First - your assumption that life is unfair is not correct. Our lives are exactly what we make them to be. We are given choices and if we choose a path that makes it more difficult than we'd like, that is a result of our choice, not some ethereal "unfairness."
Bill Gates has millions of dollars. I don't. Is that unfair? No, he made his choices, I made mine. I have a life that is worth 100x100 times more than all the money he has because God blesses my life. I have the most precious things I could have, God as my light, my husband as my life partner and four children who challenge me to be a better mom every day. Who could ask for more?
Eternity in heaven will be beyond anything our finite minds can imagine. If you think it is unfair here, then you have to have faith and know that you know that you know it will NOT be unfair in Heaven. Why? Because God promises that it won't be. He wants each of His children to be prosperous and content in ALL things. My finite mind can only imagine what those ALL things are in Heaven. Frankly, I can hardly wait. But God has more work for me to do here, so let's get to it . . . . .

It's a very good and old question. The answer is simple. Life is not fair, Hence, humans have created and ideal afterlife for themselves in which every thing will be fair and justice will be done. What they don't realise is that even an afterlife could not solve that puzzle. Life is not fair because we act to survive and based on greed therefore, here and then we may deviate from the path of fairness and remember as Einstain said: Ethics is an exclusively human concern.

"Life isn't fair" is a phrase adressing our measly human limitations of not being able to see the whole picture (ie what G-d sees). It's like looking at a puzzle. If we can only see one piece of the puzzle, then it "doesn't seem fair," however, if we could look at the whole puzzle from a broader view, we would see how all the pieces miraculously fit into place, and not only that, create an amazing picture that would not have been able to be seen otherwise. As it is now clearly explained, it is possible to look at the afterlife as being fair as well.

I don't think this is an easy question to answer until we actually see what the next life is going to be like. I wonder if people still have to wait in line to check out library books (or the equivalent). Some things just go with the territory of being around other people, you know. But as far as death, disease, criminal behavior, etc. - that will be eliminated. After the Resurrection there might be some adjustment to where everyone is going to live, so we'll all have to be working on patience again anyway.

There are no egos in the afterlife, only love. God is forgiving of all and therefore peace can be found. No inner or outer conflicts, just truth and light. There is no right or wrong, and there are not even concepts such as fair or not fair.

i don't think life is unfair, it's just that we think we are better than that and we deserve more in life. in fact we don't.
