How can these people call themselves a church and hold signs that say thank God for dead soldiers. What is wrong with them?

Yes, it is that church from Kansas. A soldier was killed about a month ago in a town about 30 miles from me. These people came and protested at this mans funeral. The Gov of IL signed a law a few days before stating that these protestors could not come within 200 feet of the funeral. A motercycle group from St Louis I believe is also going to these funerals to block the protestors. God bless them. If anyone has any info on them, please provide.

I have heard about and it is absolutley appalling! On a brighter note, there is a national group of motorcycle- riding activists and veterans called "Patriot Guard Riders"out there that has been going to many of these same funerals, they however are doing a wonderful thing. They are either running interference between the protesters and the family, shielding the families from these ridiculos intruders, or simply showing up to show support for the fallen heros and their families.

As a veteran, I find it appalling that protesters would do this to prove their agenda. They have nothing else better to do? A family loses a member and they make their point known. Give the family and friends the decency.
No morals or courtesy whatsoever. I believe it is against the law to do this now.

I think it's wrong, but it probably isn't so much the church as the fact that the protesters are liberals. It's very sad that they can't have more respect for the families of the soldiers during their time of grief.

I can't say i have heard about that. But if it is true i think those people should have a good hard look at themselves and maybe consider the feelings of the family of the deceased soldier/s.
That is the most disgusting thing i have ever heard to be honest.

I presume you're talking about Fred Phelps' "Baptist" church in Kansas. They aren't really a Baptist church, of course; they're just a hate group that targets homosexuals. Cruelly disrupting dead soldiers' funerals is their chosen tactic for grabbing attention.

I am a Christian, and I think that it is an abomination! Anyone who act so disrespectfully, as part of religion or not, is just plain rude. However, just because some people use religion as a podium for their own, corrupt agenda, doesn't necessarily mean that all of religion is the same way.

I havn't heard about this personally but it's very sad. They may have different believes but our soldiers should be respected. It is never right to impose on a funeral service or be disrespectful to those morning.
