Moses taught his followers God's Name. He told them to call on it and to use it. Moses taught that this Name is God's forever. It is an important Name. Yet Muhammad does not mention it. Why?

Thank you for all the answers. Allah is the English eqivalent of God. That is not a name but a word to describe what the supreme being is in relation to His creation. He revealed what His Name is to Moses. Each prophet of God after Moses used the Name of God and taught it to their followers. Muhammad did not. Why?

Because he did not know. Besides how was he sure that it was the angel Gabriel--and not Satan--who "revealed" things to him?

Well, I'm not a muslim, but as told by my muslim friend, in the Quran, there are 99 names of God mentioned. Allah, means supreme power not the name of God. This question also leads to as why didn't Buddha even taught anything about God in his teaching? He only told that do not waste time as to ask questions like who is God, where is He, how does He look like and etc. instead look within yourself to seek enlightenment.

Muhammad did not teach the true name of God because the translator did not get the word for Creator right.

Ilah is the Arabic equivalent of god, Allah is used by arabs only to denote the unseen creator and sustainer of the universe. They all claimed to be followers of Abraham, Jews, Christians and even polytheists of that time but they even worshiped him.

Even Jesus called God something similar to Allah, that is ALAAHA. See this from a Christain site teaching aramaic, the language Jesus spoke http://www.learnassyrian.com/aramaic/church/church.html

I don't think that Muhammad's main concern was the name of the God. God simply put means almighty and, Allah translated means almighty. It's as if your name is Carlos or Juan, but it is translated to Charles or John.

In the Jewish religion, one is not supposed to say the name G-d, unless he or she is praying, because G-d is not supposed to be disturbed otherwise. Maybe the same goes for Muslims too.

Say (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)): "He is Allâh, (the) One.
"Allâh-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks). "He begets not, nor was He begotten; "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (Al-Ikhlas 112:1-4)

So what were you saying??

Dear Gery,
I presumed that you are not a Moslem. So, if you are not a Moslem, please do not submit any question that you don't understand. Besides, what is the "true name of God" according to your understanding?
