Because it's from their desires, they take what pleases them for the Bible and what doesn't pleases them they leave off..

All have sinned and come short of the glory. Why do you think this sin is so much worse than any other sin that you, I or any others commit on a daily basis. Sins that the Bible clearly state are sins. Example- women wearing pants. Pants, long considered men's clothing, have only in the last 50 years been acceptable for women.
Deut: 22:5 "A woman is not to wear male clothing, and a man is not to put on a woman's garment, for everyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord your God."
And don't tell me you've never lied, masturbated, wore poly-blends, had pre-marital relations, coveted....
Judge not lest ye be judged.

Leviticus 19:27 "'You shall not cut the hair on the sides of your heads, neither shall you clip off the edge of your beard.
They also cut their hair and shave, so which verses are supposed to be adhered to and which ones can be overlooked?
28 "'You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you.
This obviously means don’t tattoo yourself, go to a professional!

Perhaps they look at the Lev 19:28 text as a contextual command. That is, they believe it was one in a long list of things we don't necessarily adhere to today, but it was important in the context to which it was originally written. Maybe the surrounding nations all had tattoos as a sign of their affiliation with their gods, and the God of Israel chose this and other external signs to distinguish Israel from its surrounding nations. Today Christians ought to distinguish themselves from non-Christians, but this is more a matter of the spirit than the flesh.
Personally, I'm a wuss when it comes to pain, so that's why I haven't.

Lev. also clearly says not to touch a woman while she is on her period... you better find out the time of month for ALL woman you come in contact with so as not to touch them!!!
My point is that that was the levitical law!! Jesus set us free from the law. The only law we have now is to love the Lord God with all our heart and to love our neighbor as ourselves. If you do that then you will be covering the 10 commandments by just really treating your neighbor like you would want to be treated!! Would you want to be murdered, cheated on etc....
Hope that helps.

Those are the laws of the Old Testament. The New Testament clearly abolishes the old laws. Therefore, tattoos are no longer forbidden by God.

Actually, this law only applies to Jews (the "children of Israel.") Orthodox Jews do not get tattoos. However, from a Jewish POV, there is no prohibition against non-Jews getting tattoos.

I'm a christian and I have no tattoo's but I do know some that do have them and most of them got them before getting saved, if they got them after I guess they figure God forgives and they'll just have to answer that when they meet face to face with him

The bible does in fact, in the old testement say not to mark your body...however when Jesus came, not all of the old laws were kept...like you can eat pork now! It is not a sin. It is just not pleasing to God. I am unsure of why they still do it....I guess the reason why I know what is unpleasing to God is, and what sins are...and I still do them! Its because no one is perfect!

I think people get them because they do not feel they are doing anything wrong. If they like their tattoo and feel it is appropriate then they do not feel that they are hurting their "temple" I don't think God is sending anyone to hell for getting a tattoo
