because nothing worth having is easy

If anyone really knows the answer to this question, I'll pay for it. I'll give it a try though: love is difficult because life, morals, values, likes, dislikes, and temperment are all fighting against it. Invariably, brains will try to persuade hearts that there is no way two people can live a life together peacefully.

First it feels so good because you are working with something that is divine-- your true self. But then you are also dealing with the most destructive thing in the universe-- the ego. See below site "A New Religion." It has more info plus latest research from Positive Psychology on what can make everyone feel happier and feel more love that does not have pain with it.

Because it has no rhyme or reason. Human emotions are involved and love happens when people are in various stages of emotional growth. Too many people believe that love is supposed to be like this ever-passionate state they read about in books or see on tv or in films. They have expectations that if you love someone deeply enough it will cure all of their and your own ills. The object of one's desire is just SO perfect in the beginning when you have blinders on.

Fact is, love is HARD. To continue loving someone after reality sets in, and things you never thought you'd see, like sh*t stained underwear on the bathroom floor, or a laundry list of bad habits, or mismanagement of money, or thoughtlessness, or selfishness, or a lack of depth, or inattention to the world around them, or jealousy, or unfinished business with ex's, or evil step-children and ex-husbands/wives, or inability to communicate, or over/under sex drive, drug/alcohol addiction, lack of motivation, no ambition....is HARD.

Are you getting my drift? It's hard because it is "insane" - all the crap you could run into by loving someone. Then even more insane is that you could actually luck out and get somebody decent, whom you're compatible with and you can accept their little imperfections and they accept yours. It's a crap shoot.

love is difficult because ppl dont realize REAL love is a choice and for you to find true love, the real stuff that last a life time you have to be realistic about every relationship ur in, dont sttle - at all- it either works or it doesnt- compatibility should over ride the lust u have for eachother, if ur not compatible it wont work.

Probably because it involves two people who have a lot of baggage that they bring along with them, including past relationships and expectations. And because people are uncomfortable in laying those all out on the table at first.

Because the possibilities for misunderstandings is infinite due to gender differences, different life experiences, and different genes. However, if the differences didn't exist, it would be pretty boring, would it not?

because of unrealistic expectations and natures drug called infatuation. A drug that attracts us at first and lets us overlook flaws and problems with compatability. After the "drug" wears off, she becomes a ***** and he becomes an insensative bastard.....nuff said
