A lot of times I can't get to sleep because I drank caffeine. Also, if you're watching TV or playing on the computer late at night, that can activate the other side of you're brain and make you not want to go to sleep. I would suggest reading a light book before you go to sleep, or taking a nice, hot relaxing bath. ( I like bubbles in mine :)). Also, don't eat late at night because then sometimes your body will be up digesting food instead of resting like it should be. An ideal time to eat dinner would be 5:30 or 6:00 PM. I would not suggest sleeping pills because they are HIGHLY addictive and you'll never get to sleep without them. Only in extreme cases when your sick with a fever that's keeping you up or you have something really important to do the next day and you cant get to sleep, should you take them. There are 2 more things that i have also tried and that have worked. Exercising and taking deep breaths. Exercising will get out a lot of energy and fatigue that could keep you awake. And deep breathing, when you inhale through the nose hold it for about 5 sec. then exhale through the mouth, will let your brain have a chance to calm down and let you fall asleep. I hoped my advice helped! Good luck!

If all is well in your life, then, reading will work very well.

If you can't stop thinking about work. The main reason may be that you are thinking about some wonderfull ideas, but you can' sleep because you think that you will forget them. Keep a notepad and pen bedside and write that stuff down. Then you will relax and go to sleep, knowing that it will be there when you wake.

That is the normal world.

If you are stressed out, depressed, having anxiety attacks, then its "see your Doc" time.
