How close are they? What were some of the pros and cons of them being that close?

There are 22 months between my 2nd and 3rd child and 14 months between my 3rd and 4th child.

As for expense of diapers. I already have 2 in them so I know about the work, but they are in cloth which is VERY cheap. :)

My kids are 14, 13, 10, 9, and 7. The oldest two are a boy and girl, only 11 months apart. They fight a lot and they are going through the moods swings of puberty at the same time, which is definitely not fun. They do enjoy many of the same activities, so there is always a "friend" around to do things with (assuming they are friends on any given day and not fighting!). The 9 and 7 year olds are girls and they are extremely close. They would choose to play with each other over playing with anyone else. They are physically about the same size, so I have had to resist the occassional urge to get them matching clothes; I think it's important that they are close, but that each has her own unique identity.

Regarding pregnancies that are close together, it is hard on your body to have one right after another. If you don't lose the weight from one pregnancy before getting pregnant again, you could be on the fast track to obesity. Remember that you're NOT eating for two, but for one who is pregnant, so your caloric needs are not significantly higher than when you're not pregnant. And keep exercising through pregnancy, even if just walking 30 minutes each day.

Another thing that comes to mind: It can be really, really hard to have two kids in diapers at the same time. It's a lot of work, and also quite expensive. I think that's part of the reason that many people space their kids 2-3 years apart--to get one out of diapers before getting another who is in them.

Best wishes!

my kids are 50 weeks apart. They are now 4 and 5. The pros is that you are already carrying a diaper bag and have all the bottles, bibs, etc... you dont need to go buy more cuz they are outdated or too old; once i was done with the last potty training, I knew that was it; they get along really well and have pretty much the same friends; they share alot of the same toys. The cons is that I had to carry both of them because the older one wasnt walking yet; I felt really bad for my son because I couldnt spend as much time on the florr with him or playing around because I was pregnant and couldnt get up off the floor alone and was sick alot; there is no break in between; everthing is one right after the other like starting school and graduations and stuff like that. I often said that sometimes it was worse than having twins because the was 2 years of the same thing and with twins it is double but only one year of the same thing.

I have 11,10,9 year olds and a 5 year old. I can certainly say I love having kids back to back ages because it was so much easier when they were babies for them to adjust. My 5 year old is spoiled rotten and I so wish I would have had her sooner. Love them all to pieces. Life is good! Mine didn't really start to argue or fight until this last year. So some growing pains there for all of us I guess. I would not trade the age spacing between them for the world. Of course, not looking too forward to the high school years!

My first and second are 21 mos.apart,my second and third are 19mos apart. The pros are their close like brotherly love stuff and your hand me downs are still pretty new, they play with pretty much the same toys, they always got somebody to play with. The cons are fighting, you get one out of doing something(spitting)and the other one starts which means the first one is going to start again,a van full of car seats.I wouldn't change a thing though,I love my boys very much.

My kids are 6,5,4, and 11 months. The cons are that they nag and fight all the time, but the pros are that they always have someone in their age range to play. They basically like the same movies, toys, games etc...

My sister was born in Aug. of 79' and me July of 80'-I believe making us 11 mos. apart (unfortunately my sis passed of SIDS) and my first brother was born in Sept. of 85' and my other in July of 86'- making them 11 mos. apart also but my youngest brother died unfortunately too. Yea my momma got it on and not too soon after the other was born! I can't blame her...if I did I wouldn't be here :)

My best friend on the other hand is giving birth next month and when she does her son will be 16 mos. I think thats gonna be tough!

MY SISTER FOUND OUT THAT SHE WAS PREGNANT WHEN HER SON WAS ABOUT 1YRS OLD. TRY TO TAKE AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE FOR "YOURSELF." BECAUSE YOU'RE NO GOOD TO THOSE BABIES IF YOU'RE ALWAYS PULLING YOUR HAIR OUT. BECAUSE THE ONLY FOCUS NOW WILL BE ON THEM. AND THEY NEED YOU. BUT WHEN YOU LOOK BACK ON IT. YOU CAN SAY THAT YOU WERE THE ONES THAT ENDURED.
