Jesus said this about Judas:
"“For I, the Son of Man, must die, as the Scriptures declared long ago. But how terrible it will be for my betrayer. Far better for him if he had never been born!"

If Judas could have accepted his mistake, as God's will, he may have been able to forgive himself, and perhaps even God. He didn't understand the messianic prophecies any better than the other disciples. I suspect he was a zealot, planning JC's ascention to the throne of David.
If he was anything at all like me, he didn't really have much power to change the world. His free will applied only to his acceptance/rejection of his role in destiny. That decision is fundamental to forgiveness.
If Jesus is the door to heaven, then forgiveness is the sidewalk to that door. Unfortunately for Judas, he died before he got the good news (he has risen). Had he seen his friend Jesus several days later, and believed in the 'Resurrection', he, like the other eleven would have been a leader in the church. And maybe the church would have received an inspired doctrine for money.
But that's not what he did...

The question of going to Heaven or Hell is mute. The true consideration is did Judas really betray Jesus. Of course not. How could he? Jesus is the Son of God. Do you believe that the entire Roman Army could have stood up against him if He wasn't willing. Jesus could have stopped the situation at anytime, for he has the absolute power of God. He choose not to do that, but to allow himself to be crucified. He did that to show his disciples that there is no death. Hell and Heaven exist in the mind, nowhere else. Your soul is God's, and He would not hurt himself. Judas' soul is your soul, so don't judge his actions. We are all children of God, so stop thinking about hell and punishment, and start thinking about love and kindness.

Just because Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him doesn't mean it was right. God can see everything that will happen prior to it's occurrance, both the good and the bad. He knows the intentions of both the pure and impure of heart. Although, in a sense, it was meant to happen, because Jesus' death was the only way to set us free. But it was not God's will. I realize that this is rather confusing, but I will try to explain it to you the best way I can. You see, God knows the intentions of the impure heart, and He knows that there is no way around it (unless He were to invade their free will). Knowing this, He creates His plans to fit into their intentions. He needs to make sure that they will not put a stop to what He has planned, and as such He fits their plan into His own so as to achieve His purposes. Make sense? I happen to believe that Judas could have been forgiven, had he repented of his sin rather than taking his own life. If, after he had betrayed Jesus, He had repented to the Lord, he would have been forgiven. Hope this helps, God bless!

All of us have sinned, so we all deserve to go to Hell. Betraying Jesus wasn't Judas's first sin. Going to Heaven is a matter of being forgiven--not being perfect. The Bible's clear about that.

I know Jesus was destined to die for us. Heck, even He knew that. But to claim that Judas was predestined to betray Christ is silly. I doubt God would remove the blessing/curse of free will from one man alone. Judas chose his path.
It is not for me to know Judas' fate in the end. We do not truly know the intent with which he betrayed Christ. It is possible that, upon hearing Jesus predict that "one among them would betray Him", maybe he chose to sacrifice his eternal life for his brethren. Maybe he really wanted those thirty pieces of silver. We can't know the answer until we know Jesus in heaven. And that, my dear, is not yet.

I am in no way an expert on the bible, but I would think he went to heaven. I believe he was a cristian which would mean he would go to heaven and I would say his betrayl was a sin just as you or I would commit any day. I hope that made sense. I stand corrected by morganie. I will read up on that.

Judas didn't betray anyone and he didn't commit suicide. Such nonsense was invented by those disciples who were bent on "fulfilling the scripture", so they had to name someone, so why not name the one they hated the most (the one Jesus loved the most; the smartest one of the lot). It's Jewish/Roman corruption. Christian bible is full of Roman Mythos & nonsense, that's why there's thousands of denominations, division, and hate. And who killed Jesus? Romans & Jews.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.
