If you think that showing the Bible to people amounts to "oppressing everyone and spreading hate," then you are one intellectually and emotionally fragile person.
Or, you have an unwarranted tendency to engage in rhetorical overemotionalism and false accusations against those with whom you disagree.
Either way, I think an attitude transplant is in order for you. Nothing personal.

That's kind of a loaded question, isn't it? I'll still answer it, though.
I don't necessarily agree that simply quoting the Bible is the best way to answer things. People also need to be able to read into the Bible and extrapilate it's meaning. There is a lot more to the Bible than first meets the eye. If we look simply at what was written, we also have to go into a deep historical lesson. Many of it was written for very specific purposes. Paul's letters were for specific cities, dealing with their specific issues. The Prophets of the Old Testament were foretelling very certain events, and while their messages are poignant, they're not necessarily indicitative of life until the end of time.
I also found that your comment about oppressing people and spreading hatred was the exact thing you were arguing and, in my humble opinion, in bad taste. It's interesting how you claim that Christians are oppressive and spreading hatred, while those are the very things that are coming forth in your question. Generealizing people, of any sort, oppresses people and spreads hatred. Applying that to all Christians, or any religious person, is bad form. There are plenty of religious people, from all religions, who are really trying to make a difference, and spread love and tolerance, which is what the Bible taught me to do.
You've posed questions that can be shot right back at you. From my experience, being a Christian, can be very fulfilling in a way that, unless you're religious yourself, can't be experienced. If you're really athiest, which is what your screen name claims, that's fine. I'm not putting you down, but how can you judge someone else's ability to put their faith in something that no one can explain. Which is exactly what you're doing. By definition, that's faith. The Christians that I know, feel something through their communion with God. That is more to our lives. Just because we, as Christians, feel something that you don't, doesn't make us, or you, or anyone else wrong. Nobody knows for sure about God. It's just a leap of faith.
But I do know that I feel a whole lot better after praying. Whether that's because of my own psychosis, or because of a higher power, I can't say. I believe it's a higher power, but I'm sure that you'd be able to provide a different response...and that's fine. Who's to really know.

The time in my life when I felt empty was when I couldn't quote from the Bible. Because that was a time that I didn't know God. Knowing and loving God has filled my life with more love and happiness than I could ever have imagined. I think the devil has made non-Christians believe that we hate those who are not Christians and that is so not true. My family is full of non-Christians and my family is my heart. Accepting Jesus into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior saved my life. I was so unhappy and miserable. Now I have experienced peace and hope and there is nothing more in this world I need. I hope one day you will experience the same thing. And that is why Christians quote the Bible and talk about God. They have found such happiness and all they want to do is share that with others. The devil has just made you believe that we are trying to spread hatred, when in reality Christians just want to spread love.

You have a lot of questions! Well. . .
I'm not happy because I quote the Bible; I quote the Bible because I'm happy.
I don't agree that Bible verses are of little value. When pertinent, they provide the most reliable answers to be found anywhere.
No, I don't feel empty inside. God fulfills, nourishes, and sustains me.
Sure, I sometimes wish there was more to my life; I think everyone does. What does that prove?
I don't oppress anyone, far less everyone, nor do I knowingly spread hatred.
I'm answering your questions from my heart and with my mind.
Does that make you happy?

Just answering for myself. I know my own thoughts on any subject. I'm not trying to irritate you, but to illustrate my point, in Jeremiah 17 verse 9&10 God says that "the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked". In Isaiah 55 verses 8&9 He says that my thoughts are not His. So if I see question about religion or the Bible I just know that His words will answer the question and my ridiculous philosophies won't. I don't know of any "damning" verses except rebellion unto death.

Using scripturse (that's verses) supports our ideas. They are not of little value, they further explain what we are trying to say. No, I don't feel empty inside. I have a lot going on in my life. And nobody is spreading hated around but you. You're talking as if we're all brainwashed, but really, you need to learn more about yourself. Or maybe one visit or two to a psychiatrist wouldn't hurt.

By keeping God's word in your heart keeps the believer from falling into the enemy's camp, false teachers and preachers and the like. By knowing scripture you are also able to help people to see why Jesus was sent to die for our sins and that by the blood of Jesus we are healed. You see if you don't have Jesus you don't Have the Father so its best to know your word so that you give yourself the opportunity to receive Christ His Son.You can still reject Him but at least give Him the opportunity to show Himself strong. Know the word and you will change cause the Word will make you free

The people who post sermons, giant lists of verses from the Bible or Qu'ran, are not only deluded, but idiotic as well. No-one's reading that crap. It's just wasting space on the yahoo databases.

Does it really make you happy to try and pi$$ people off? What valuable spiritual information do you have to share with us today? Or would you prefer to just try and push your doom, gloom, and damning accusations at people who truly are at peace with themselves and their spirituality. Wait, never mind, I got a really good idea you're about to give us another antagonistic question. Here's a statement not from the Bible and straight from the heart..............PEACE!

i quote the bible all the time, and i'm not even a christian.
christians pick and choose from the bible. they tend to skate over verses that they dont understand or don't believe in. sometimes they take them to mean something thats completely different than the origional meaning. so i quote the bible to christians to explain and educate them. just because i dont believe in it doesnt mean they don't need to know and understand THEIR faith.
