I'm guessing you don't exercise much, or you haven't in a while. When you were 18, you were probably looking and feeling great. But since then, you got a job, started driving a car instead of walking or biking or skating, and your body slowly started losing muscle. Over the years, it didn't make too much difference. But now your body doesn't have much muscle, and any excess weight is fat. Your metabolism is slower, too, making it easier for you to gain weight.

Exercise will change all of this. If you are still gaining weight, watch your diet better, start keeping a food diary. It will take time, but if you make exercise a habit, you will see improvement in weeks. And you will gain endurance and strength, too!

you can start now or not. but your future years wiull pass either way! i assure you that starting now will do more to slow down the sag and other stuff than not starting. join the Y and go or walk and do stretching and weight lifting to tone at home. just do it!

PS: i'm in my 50s and even just a little bit of exercise tones me up. i just wish i could/would do it more often.. it is much easier though, at your age, to get in shape. Go for it! you will enjoy life more if you are in shape!

It's OK if you have a stomach, but if it's bothering you and you think you can turn it into muscle do some crunches. That helps, it pulls the fat and burns it into muscle. Doctors actually say that you need to exercise throughout your life because you not only live longer but you are healthy throughout your life. :)

you are still young. You can, but look after your skin at the same time, as skin covers your body and it is more delicate due to air, chemicals, changes of weight etc.. And you can get the BIG effect.. look at some ladies in their 40's who look better that 20's.. but skin is number one..

There are special excercises (see the sources as an eg) to lift a bum and get '6 pack".

Good luck (and for me to as I also need to do it!)

First find a form of exercise you enjoy. I really recommend yoga or pilates because they firm up everything that can become less tight with age. Also a healthy diet that consists of fruits and veggies you like really help fight everything that comes with greater age. Hope the best for you! MayMay

OF COURSE!
i know a woman who is 85 and lives in a nursing home. she could barley walk but decided that she wanted to get fit.
so i told her to take it easy.
within a few months she was jogging on a treadmill.
last week she finished a marathon.
it is never too late to get fit and see big results.
start walking.(1st week)
power walk(2nd week)
then jogging for 1/2 mile and walking the rest (3rd wek)
run a mile (4th week)
then either increase your mileage or improvve your mile time.
also you can just get a membership at the local gym.

Honey, I am going to be 46 in three weeks. I have lost 65 pounds in the past three years, along with seven inches off my enormous gut. I also pump iron, and am in better shape then most guys my age. If I can do it in my 40's, you certainly can do it at your age.

The older you get the harder it gets! But you're at a good age, you're body is still adaptable and you can train it to do whatever you'd like. Start early, get ahead, and good luck!

you can modify your body at almost any age. It may just take longer the older you get.
