Well, I think you need to start out young, when they first see someone who is of a different race. Let them know that they just look different and that everyone looks different somehow. Show them the differences between people...different shapes, sizes, noses, hands, feet, etc, not just skin color. Look in a mirror with them and have them point out the differences. NEVER be racist or use the n word even when you think they aren't listening or that they aren't around. You definetly don't want it to ever slip or anything because if they hear it once, that's all they're going to think.

Teach your children about who they are. Make them proud of themselves and their heritage.
Also encourage them to accept differences in other people.

I am mixed. My mother is a beautiful, strong black woman and my father is Jewish. I think I have the best of both worlds. I grew up colour blind. I think that differences are what makes people beautiful. There is no standard of beauty that we should all conform to. The more your children are aware of this the better, as they will be able to confront ignorance and racism head on and come through unscathed.

Be a good example. Teach him that being different is good and every person is different, our hair color, eye color , skin color no one looks exactly alike and that's a good thing.
