I have been on two RCL cruises. I thoroughly enjoyed each of them. On the first cruise, I had a cabin on Deck 4 in the very front of the ship. At times, the ship was a little rocky and we felt the motion of the ship. It was never really bad, though. On our second cruise, we were in the middle of Deck 3, and we felt more motion there than in the front.

From what I hear from cruisers who have been on numerous cruises, RCL is the best way to go for the price. You can always go better, but it just gets more expensive.

If you want a nice family atmosphere with minimal drunken parties, then sail RCL!!!!!

It really just depends on the weather. If the water is calm, it doesn't really matter where you are located, you really won't feel anything, that is until you get off. If you are going with rough seas, you will find the mid-ship to be less rocky. At this point in time, with some storms forming and such, it may be a good idea to book a mid-ship room, but the rooms on the end sometimes are larger or have a bigger balcony and are pretty nice as well.

Personally, I like Royal Caribbean. I think that the overall quality of the cruise is a lot better than Carnival. The food is a little better, rooms are a little nicer, food is a little better, fewer kids, better service, a little more classy, etc. But it just depends on the atmosphere you are looking for onboard.

Royal Caribbean is definately better than Carnival. The cabins in the forward part of the ship will have more motion, and if the ship has an anchor you will be awoken by the very loud noise of the ship dropping anchor. The cabins in the aft (rear) part of the ship will likely have more vibration and engine noises. The cabins in the midship (center) are going to be your best bet. Also, the lower decks will be more stable and on the higher decks you may feel a bit more motion, but not too bad under normal conditions. As for the cabins themselves, that depends on what type of cabin you booked. Generally speaking, the cabins in each category, regardless of whether they are forward, midship, or aft, should be the same.

RC is far better than Carnival. The lower price point of Carnival attracts a different crowd than RC.

One of the good things about rooms on the very back is that you may get a room with a huge balcony. Otherwise, center seems to be the best bet - less disturbance overall. : )

been on 3 RC cruises. they were conderful!, trying Carnival next week. I heard both are great. I tink the rooms in the middle of the ship are supposed to have less vibration. I have never had a problem, especially on the larger ships! Have a great cruise!

The best rooms are located near the center of the ship, as this is the axis on which it will rock. The further fore or aft you go, the more of the motion of the ocean you will experience. Now having said that, who cares, you will only sleep there. There are so many activities onboard that you wont want to spend any more time there than neccessary.
