Middle school will provide plenty of opportunity to make new friends. This is not a logical time to skip a grade. Instead, get involved with activities in the school so you can meet more people and expand your social circle.

My child is also going into 7th grade and he has friends that are in upper grades also what he has done is joined band where alot of his friends are so he still gets to spend time with them.Extracurricullar groups are a great way to meet new friends and all your friends can become involved. My advice just find a group that you will all enjoy and join. You may even learn something new in the process.Just remember your friends might not like the same things you do so you may want to join more than one group.

Be yourself. In middle school everyone is trying to fit in just like you. Many of the kids will use you if you show that you want popularity at any cost. Therefore be true to yourself and allow new friends in to your life. Follow your interests ;join clubs;meet new people. You will find that middle school is a great place to be,And remember to keep on top of your school work because that is the number one reason for you to be there. Good luck

Making new friends, being in new places, and doing new things:
You are going to face these things for the rest of your life. You are going to think that you are all alone, but believe it that everybody older than you has faced these feelings. Someday you are going to have your first day in high school, your first job, going away to college, your first real job, getting married and on. Don’t worry; it is not as bad as it sounds.
Remember you are always going to face your first day, and making new friends from now on. As you get older, these will become easier, and in fact you will probably look forward to these when you are more mature because they will be fun and challenging.
But most important:
Just Take It Easy. Life can be so wonderful and happy when you let it be.

If you are kind of shy and find it hard to meet new friends, a great way is thru school activities and clubs. That way you meet kids that have your same interests and you will hit it off faster and make new friends in no time!
Just take that first step by saying "Hi" to everyone first. A lot of great conversations and friendships start with that one simple word!
Good luck!

Try just being more open and outgoing.Think positive and it will radiate to others.Practice by simply saying hello to strangers at the supermarket.....looking friendly makes others friendly to you...
I am VERY outgoing, bubble and talkative..I am 23 and have always been this way...
Try not butting in...but still having an imput in convo's with others.try making friends who are people you can relate too..not just the "popular people" but who you PERSONALLY like..not who EVERYONE seems to like...Remember as far as cliques go...friend are better in QUALITY not quantity//my best friend and Ihave been friends since 5th grade!!The cool kids probably wont be anyone who is better than anyone else when they graduate.be strong girl..you can do it!!!!

You and your best friend will be able to chat with each other after school and on the weekends. Make sure you have sleepovers and do activities together. Make friends with her friends too. You can make lots of other friends at your school. Just be yourself and treat other's good. Good Luck.

Don't worry about catching up. It seems scary now but I bet soon you'll have so many friends at this school that you won't even know what you were worried about.
