Not all Christians play church and believe that nonsense.

If it truly was tongues it would be the Holy Spirit speaking through them and would be understood in all languages.

Some like to play church and are biblically illiterate.

GUESS WHAT?

IF IT SOUNDS LIKE BABBLE, IT'S BABBLE.

Tongues were necessary during the Apostolic age, because we didn't yet have the inspirirational written word of the new testament. Also the foundation of the new Christian Church was being layed. But once the foundation of the Church was built, and we have God's word in the gospels, tongues are no longer needed. We have a more perfect way of teaching God's word, the Bible. Especially the gospels, as they already had the old testament. Paul said in verse 1 Cor. 13:10, But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away with. Some believe this verse to mean the perfect to come is Jesus Christ. Which He is perfect, but Paul said, "that which is perfect". Paul would never use the word "that", to describe his Lord. If he had meant Jesus, he would have said, "HE who is perfect". Paul was referring to God's word.....In 1 Cor.13:8 Paul says this;...Charity never faileth: but weather there be prophecies (predictions), they shall fail; weather there be tongues, they shall cease (Stop); weather there be knowledge it shall vanish away.( which means we will get our knowledge from the written word , (the gospels), instead of inspirational knowledge from the Apostles and Disciples. The tongues spoken today is gibberish, and not Biblical. Its all due to mistranslating the Bible. If you notice that in the rest of the books, after Acts, tongues are no longer mentioned, as the written word began to appear.

Speaking in tounges is a wonderful gift from God. He wants every one of us to get this gift. It means you have been filled with the Holy Ghost. It is biblical. The bible says that a man must be born of water and born of the spirit to inherit the Kingdom Of Heaven. Don't be scared by tounges. God wants to give this gift to you too. Visit a pentecostal church and you will understand more. I feel sorry for people who do not believe in tongues. You are missing out on becoming closer to God. If God wants you to have this gift, then why would you not want it. I want all God has to offer for me.

For the girl above me, I am sure that what you visited was a Pentecostal church. Give it another try. Pentecostals worship the way God wants us to. You would go to a ball game and scream and jump up and down. If you met someone famous you might dance around. Why does God not deserve the same. The bible says to sing and dance before the Lord and I plan to dance my way all the way to Heaven. Nothing is too God for my God.

Well Christians say that speaking in unknown tongues is OK because it is in the Bible. It was evidence on the initial out pouring of the comforted promised by Jesus. You can read in Acts and Corinthians. It is also in other places but these two talk about it in most detail.
A person at one time or another has to chose for themselves. The Bible is either the infallible word of God or it isn't. If you chose to believe that it is the infallible word of God then you should believe every word. If you chose to not believe that it is infallible , then how can you pick and chose which parts to believe or which parts not to believe.

P.S. not only is it OK to do, but it is GREAT. People that are filled with the Holy Spirit literally leave changed. I know a person who was filled while he had drugs in his boot. Then left completely free of drugs and the motorcycle gang he was in. He is now a minister and a foster parent of 15 children. Please email me if you want more stories.

It is TRULY joy unspeakable!

I am a Christian and I don't believe it is ok. I attend a Southern Baptist church and I decided to visit another church just to see what they believe and how they worship (I am not saying what denomination so I don't offend anyone).

I ended up leaving during the middle because people were shouting out total nonsense and I have never felt so excluded in my life. It was a huge church and the more people that did it the more chaotic the service got until I felt that it wasn't a service at all. I don't believe it is ok because it can scare off visitors and make them uncomfortable or feel excluded and its not what the Bible meant by speaking in tongues.

I merely spoke in tongues proper this second, i replaced into praying for someone and that i have been given an answer.. I appeared down at my bible and a verse that defined some thing huge to me replaced into proper there, yet once you pray you may sense the spirit, you may actually sense some thing interior like a spirit or wind, bypass pray on my own and dont provide up and also you'll see that's real. I allow you to understand its large once you elect solutions to issues. that's humorous you would ask with the aid of adventure I merely had some hours in the past.

Most of the Christian's who speak in tongues are just flapping their lips. It's like people who handle snakes to show they believe in Jesus. If they really believed in Jesus and what he said they'd be out there reading to the elderly or volunteering at a clinic instead of pretending to channel the Holy Ghost, which is utter nonsense.

When Christians say that they're generally talking about being possessed. If someone talks in a foreign langauage they never used before or completely alien and makes wierd sounds they may be possessed by the devil. So seriously.... if it's happening I'm just saying

Speaking in tongues refers to speaking in many different languages that the person apparently did not know before. Almost like being possessed.

Speaking in tongues is supposed to be a great gift, as tongues refers to the language of God. I think it may be Aramaic, but I don't know.
