Yeah, hook him up with the VG's, he earned um' and he'll be happy about your decision to reward him, possibly compelling him to work harder or improve in other areas.

I say no. Instead, reward him with something that the two of you can do together.
For example, growing up if I got all As on my report card, I would get $20. My mother and I would then go shopping together, and spend my $20 on anything I wanted. Plus, it gave me a goal to strive for all year long. You'd be surprised how many times I got all As! I was so proud and excited to bring my report card home.
Kids just want your attention and love. They'll remember that reward more than any video game. Build on your child's' future.

If he is an excellent student, then I would let him have a video game for a reward. I am 32, and I like to play some of the pc games myself! :0) Many of them actually help improve your memory and "thinking" ability, as well as your manual dexterity. As long as he doesn't want one of the gory,super-violent games, I'd say go for it.

I would continue rewarding him. It will give him an incentive to continue getting good grades. This will also prepare him for adult life; He will learn that if he perseveres, he will get rewarded whether he sees results right away or not. You may want to limit this, however: Maybe once a grading period or something. Maybe for each "A" or "B" he gets, will add so much to the amount of money you will spend on the game or whatever you choose to reward him with. Just and idea and my two cents. :)

My son is also a great student. When he does well on his report card, he usually looks forward to when he and i go to the video store so that he can pick out a new game. It seems to be working pretty well for me. But, i also limit the amount of time per day he can play his video games...after his homework is completed. If he needs to be punished, i usually take away video game time from him. He really hates that, more than being on restriction.

Well if you reward your your son with video games he might get distracted with them and failed in his school work but there is alot of better ways to reward him like taking him out to some fun family occasions or spending time with his friends.

no, if you want your son to remain an excellent student you don't buy him any video games. he will spend all his time playing video games instead of doing creative things.

No!!!
Reward him with lots of adventure and brave story books.if you give him the video games he may became engrossed with it and he may become adict of that.
Give him books it makes his mind relaxed and feel better.when he has more books he won't feels alone and become exited.Another point is that his eyes may lost power and he may need to wear the glass.
So,take correct decision.
