Florida is a tourist state and has a large university that has many foreign exchange students. Many of these students are from Spain. They speak Spanish and a majority have blond hair and blue eyes. You mistakenly attributed the current illegal immigration crisis with a comparison of your time in Florida with color. And your gage of several has not even scratched the surface as far ar numbers in regards to the MILLIONS that illegally cross the border each year. Perhaps you were LOOKING for a reason to blame someone rather than the obvious blame- which is to put it on those who are crossing the border illegally regardless of race, or color. Thank you.

There isn't the huge influx of illegals crossing into the border of Florida, like there are in Texas and California.

Most of them died trying. They come on tiny handmade rafts and they fall apart in the turbulant water off the Miami coastline.

The coast guard just goes out, picks them up and sends them right back to Cuba on a ship. Due to the gulf water south of Florida, it leaves them with not much of a problem.

In Texas, they just walk across the dry river bed of the Rio Grande river. There's not a drop of water in it anymore.
I live in Dallas, Tx. We see thousands of them on the news constantly, getting caught. Many escape into Texas undetected. It is a HUGE border and easily tresspassed.
It really is a problem. If you lived here you would understand it.

A lot of legal citizens are really ticked off because they can't find work.
The illegal aliens work for almost free. Since they can't be put on any legal forms, the employers pay them scrap and they're happy with that. Both the employers and the immigrants.

What they are paid, you nor I could live on it. They're happy sleeping where ever they can find.

It makes it more difficult for the average Joe to find work. The companies don't want to HAVE to pay minimum wage.
Companies get to keep a lot more cash in their pockets by hiring them over us.

People are complaining about all of the borders. The ones coming into Florida tend to be legal, since they get political asylum if they are from Cuba.

You have a problem with blonds elperro? Didn't know you were racist...

Not only is the state of Florida complaining about illegal and resonable immigration without swinging open our doors in a few short years, but they are also very upset when Washington tells them that illegals don't impact the environment. I'm sure they would very welcome the chance to prove it, but in our current day, no one is listening to the public and are passing fantasy legislation.

That's exactly what it is. It gives people reason to become racist. But if they have blond hair and blue eyes, no one thinks to look. I mean isn't this the "melting pot"? Then why are we racist? And why are we so worried about the color of people's skin? Get over it or move out of the country!!!!

Sorry you had to go thru that. My husband and I went to Austin, Tx where there were a bunch of people with the hair and eye combo you spoke of, and they spoke to us in spanish, and offered us "salsa". I don't know if half of them were being ignorant or just trying to be nice. At first I was offended and my husband told me that I don't know these people and to let it go. Then I figured, we all have some form of ignorant biases I guess, we tend to have reverse bigotry in our culture (Mexican here). And we never notice that we're also offending. I think I went off on a tangent...didn't understand your question: Were you complaining that they spoke to you in spanish and that Florida is turning into "Mexico" or that they spoke to you in spanish and you don't even speak it? No te ofendas! :-* Mzz

Just because someone speaks spanish doesn't mean the are illegal immigants.

But maybe Florida likes its cheap labor better.

Its supposed to be about immigration but the american policies as far as favored nations is clearly racially motivated. They should not have favored nations.
