A cavity basically feels just like what it is--a sore, painful hole in your tooth. If you have any doubts, go see a dentist--don't wait!
I doubt anyone here can tell you without examining your mouth first. Is there a dentist in the house......? I don't think so.

Sorry, it does sound like you have a cavity. Pain on eating sweet things is usually a good indicator of a cavity. But cavities only start to hurt when they are quite big, so you really need to see a dentist as soon as you can and get a filling. It's not that bad, the injection feels like a sharp pinch but after that you're numb so you won't feel any pain, just pressure and there are some weird nosies which can be kind of scary. When you go to the dentist he'll do an examination first and if you do have a cavity you'll have to make another appointment for the filling, so you can talk to the dentist at the first appointment and tell him you're anxious and he should be able to give you something to calm you down. And yes, you can get a white filling in a back tooth but personally I'd recommend amalgam for back teeth, especially if it's only one.

Cavities are usually very sensitive to extreme temperatures, so what you are describing is one of the foremost symptoms. I think this is the only symptom when you are in the early stages, so I highly recommend that you see a dentist and get a filling straight off. Also, for continued health, floss. I can't tell you how important it is to floss. In fact, I think I am going to go floss right now. I might even change my username to flossqueen or lossofmackerswithoutfloss or something like that..
GO FLOSS!!

Feels like an insect bite in between your teeth, Then if you suck in hard pulling air between your teeth, You pull the offending sugars out and the pain goes away. If the cavities are bigger it takes longer for the pain to go away. Eventually there is nothing but pain and then the nerve dies and your good to go; that is until the infection sets in or the tooth crumbles away to the bone.
Good luck

A cavity feels like a nail being hammered into your ear, your jaw, or your head...POW, pow,pow...you can't sit still cause the pain is so bad and there is tears in your eyes and you want your Momma...if it's not all that, then it's probably sensitive teeth.

A cavity is the space inside a tooth that remains once tooth decay is removed. Plaque, a colorless, sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on teeth, is one of the main causes of tooth decay. The reason we brush and floss every day is to remove plaque, because bacteria in plaque reacts with sugar in the foods we eat to produce acids that can attack and weaken tooth enamel—the hard, protective covering on our teeth. Eroding enamel leaves the teeth unprotected, allowing for cavities to develop more easily.
