" Alcohol can cause all kinds of damage to the kidneys. These effects can range from cell damage and enlargement of the kidneys to alcohols’ impact of the various hormones that control kidney function. Alcohol creates an ionic imbalance in the body that can negatively affect many metabolic processes" "Alcohol destroys this delicate balance of the ions and water in the body by altering the filtering ability of the kidneys. Although the exact mechanisms for how alcohol changes the kidney’s ability to function are not clearly known, the changes in ionic concentrations have been studied in humans and in animals for many years. Kidney complications are even greater if a person has also been diagnosed with liver damage due to alcohol consumption."

The kidneys filter wastes out of the blood. Alcohol is a toxin that the kidneys will filter out. In excess throughout years of abuse yes the alcohol will destroy a good amount of glomeruli, the functional unit of the kidney, leading to kidney related problems. But if alcohol is used in a responsible dose and time periods the effects should be negligible.

Alcohol is a toxin in the body. It breaks down the cellular wall of your organs. The kidneys are a very delicate structure that allows the blood to be filtered through capillary bundles called glomeruli. These glomeruli are one cell thick. If there is enough alcohol damage, the glomeruli will be broken and blood will enter the kidneys. The kidneys are not equipped to filter blood and that blood will end up in your urine. Too many blown glomeruli and you will have kidney failure. That means the cellular waste material ( usually nitrates and ammonia compounds from protein use ) will stay in your bloodstream and lead to toxicity.
Not a fun way to die.

Alcohol ruins the liver. The liver can not detoxify the body. The kidneys can not cleanse the system of fluids properly. It all backs up into the stomach causing ulcers that bleed. Indigestion, heartburn, all organs are slowly ruined by alcohol. The stomach and the liver are the most noticed by the abuser. The heart is also effected. Alcohol abuse is just a slow suicide!
