My mom has towels in her bathroom for decoration. I think it's odd. Towels are to be used in my mind. Can you guys/girls out there explain this to me? Is it normal even?

My wife does it too. We have these towels in the downstairs bathroom that on one side feels like really cheap fake silk shirts, you know the kind that people that want you think they have money wear. The other side is this horrible, rug feeling towel. I ask her all the time about this and she says I'm not to use them. I think I'll start coming out of the bathroom with wet hands and wiping them on her shirt.

Yes towels can be used for decoration. I am an interior design student. Towels are an accessory. If you have a bathroom that people are going to see it is one way to accessorize it.

Some clients love this look. And they can do whatever they want.
But to be honest, useless decorative things - like towels or pillows - I cannot stand it!!! Why keep something around if it's useless? It just collects dust and doesn't do you any good.
Don't get me wrong - my house is plenty decorated, just with things that I use - like nice towels - damnit I paid enough for them, I'm gonna use them!!

yes. towels can be used as decor, but I feel that it's only a good idea if you also have some that are to be used as well

i see them in lots of homes. sometimes i don't know if i'm supposed to use them or not if i can't find anything else. i don't go for the decorative towel look either.

Yes its normal "I think". My mother does it, I do it, Most everyone that I know does it. Now I get upset if someone uses them. Most people don't I think. But ya its pretty and very decorative.

it is nomal to have decorative towels. I have been in many homes that have them out.

my mom used to do the same thing! apparently, it's not that abnormal, although i tend to agree that towels are best when they are to be used.
