You confess your sins and profess the name of Jesus. Then, once you do this at the front of the Church with the preacher, he will arrange for you to be baptized. Once you are baptized, your old self is buried with Jesus and you are raised to walk in the newness of life. It is a re-birth. There has to be the physical birth (from the womb) and then a spiritual re-birth per Jesus to Nicodemus.

Whenever you become baptized you are giving your whole life to the Lord. After the person or people baptizing you ask you the Question, you get baptized or in English terms dunked into the water. The "dunking " represents you dying like Jesus did on the cross. Then whenever they raise you up from the water exemplifies you rising up from the dead as Jesus did. Baptism serves as a sacrifice to the Lord.

baptism is a sacrament, which is something that was instituted by God, combines spiritual forces with an earthly or physical element, and gives you forgiveness, new life, and salvation. it is also something in which God gives you something for nothing, and you dont have to do anything to earn/receive it. the Greek word for baptize ( i cant remember exactly what it is...sorry about that) simply means "to wash by sprinkling, pouring, immersing, or any other manner." baptism is when you are "washed" by sprinkling, pouring, immersing, etc. in the name of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. when you are baptized, you receive eternal life, salvation, and forgiveness for your sins. you are also considered a member of God's family after you are baptized...which is why infants are often baptized, because they are not able to understand their sins or be accountable for their actions, so they are baptized to receive forgiveness so that they will be able to go to heaven if they die before they can fully understand the consequences of sin and the gospel that tells how you are forgiven.
first of all, you do not accept jesus into your life, your conscience tells you that there is a god, you can either believe in him or reject him. baptism does not need to be done by dunking or completely immersing, it can be done in any manner as long as water and God's Word are used in the process. you can use the water in any way, you could put them in a dunk tank, you could use a sqirt gun, you could have them do a belly flop off the high dive into the local pool and bapitze them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and it would have the same benefits, the only reasons why we don't usually have dunk tanks in the front of our churches to baptize people in is that it is more respectful to do it quietly and give the glory to God, because he is the only reason you are here in the first place, also, if you were baptizing a baby, idont really think it would be a good idea to drop them in a dunk tank or squirt them with a squirt gun.

Baptism is the process of immersion, including submersion and emergence. It is derived from the verb ba'pto, meaning "dip,"
In the Bible, "to baptize" is the same as "to immerse".
Christian water baptism is an outward symbol that the one being baptized has made a complete, unreserved, and unconditional dedication through Jesus Christ to do the will of his heavenly Father. Jesus was baptized by water immersion.

Some Christian sects/denominations think baptism is the act of cleansing you of your sins. Others view baptism as an "outward expression of an inward confession" - that is, showing others that you are serious about your faith in Christ.
Baptism is done all different ways. Some Christians sprinkle water on the person's forehead while others "dunk" a person completely underwater.
I go to an interdenominational church, and we just had a baptism service a couple of weeks ago. We went to a family's house, and they did the baptisms in a hot tub. It was water and it worked for symbolic purposes! Our church baptizes a person completely under, and it symbolizes how Christ died (going under water) and how he rose again (coming up out of the water). Plus, water is seen as clean, pure, and life-giving.

You go to a church and tell them that you want to be baptized, and depending on the church, you will most likely be put in a tub and asked "Do you believe in the Lord as your personal savior?" and then as you are dunked they will say "in the name of the Father the son and the holy ghost" and then your are baptized. If you do indeed believe in the Lord as your savior as I do, this will be a public profession of your faith. And thats pretty much the deal!

The first step is accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.
The second step is to find a pastor or someone similar to baptize you. Doesn't matter if it's sprinkling, dunking, etc, as long as you do it.
And yes, it is required. It is a symbol of obedience and is mentioned several times in the Bible. Jesus Himself was baptized.

There are two kinds of baptism. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit , where you are baptized into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit. This baptism you receive when you receive Jesus as your Savior. Then there is the Baptism of Water this one is to show the world that you are a follower of Christ.

I am a baptist. The way we do it is you are saved by the blood of Jesus from your sins, first and foremost. You do this by asking Jesus to come into your heart and save you from hell and your sins.
After this, you are baptised. The way we do is you are either in a body of water like a baptistry in the church or some country people use lakes, and you are there with the preacher. They baptise you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
What this is, is a sign to others friends, and family that you are now a new creature and you will try to walk with the Lord and let Him lead you.
Baptism is purely a form of a sign to others that you have changed....
Blessing to you!

You make the decision to become baptised after you repent your sins to God, which means to confess and ask for forgiveness. When you repent, it does not mean that you still continue to go out and committ the same sins. One has not truley repented until you change your ways. When you go under the waters of baptism, it washes away your sins and they are forgotten. It is like starting with a clean slate. God has forgiven you and you must forgive yourself. It was the most awsome experience of my life. You may even receive the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
