It was brought on by either a bacterial or viral infection. I had white spots on the back of my throat for about a week in the beginning. Eventually those went away, but not before this one night.. one side of my throat hurt so bad when I woke up the next morning I probably spit up an ounce of blood. I have been to 3 different doctors, been on two different antibiotics & prilosec, but nothing seems to be working. The severe pain and white spots have been gone for a while, but the glands on both sides of my neck are always swollen. Right now I just have this swollen feeling in the back of my throat. Like I said before, this has lasted for 6 weeks now. The weird thing is that I haven't had a fever one time since then. PLEASE HELP!

it sounds like tonsillitus or possibly a yeast infection in the throat. When you get a really bad infection in the throat sometimes it doesn't all clear up and abscesses and keeps recurring. If it is tonsils, you'd need them out. If it's a yeast infection you have antibiotics will not help, you need to have some sort of treatment like mycostin mouth gargle, diflucan, and possibly mycelex troches. Have them do a throat culture so they know what they are dealing with, see a ENT (ear, nose, throat) specialist.

no fever? hmmm...3 doctors, but none of them think it's tonsilitis? You still have your tonsils? If you've had a lot of strep throat before in your life, but still have your tonsils, maybe they could be removed and have you all fixed.

this sounds like a very serious condition & you need to see a doctor immediatly if you haven't done so. if it persists , it may affect your breathing. also you might want to try to see a doctor who specializes in natural treatments

perhaps it's strep throat.. get to an ENT since it's recurring.
