I'm trying to get rid of an air conditioner for about $55. It was originally $95. Do you think this is reasonable since it comes with a ten year unlimited warranty and it was only used for 1/2 of the summer last year and was brand new at that time?

Selling it on an Internet auction site is probably pointless. Unless the buyer is in your area, the cost of shipping the air conditioner to them will be so high that it would be cheaper to go and buy a new one.

See if your local paper has some sort of cheap ads they'll post on a website or in the paper.

Craigslist.org

Find your city there and post. It's easy and it works (at least here in Chicago)

$55 is reasonable. Even if you used it 1 day and sold it the next you can't get close to what you paid. Maybe ask for $60 and settle for $55 if the want to bargain but no less.

$55 is a reasonable price as long as the warranty is transferrable
( original receipt may be needed to deal with cust support). Such items sell well on your local "green Sheet", Try to avoid shipping costs as this will drop your asking price due to the weight of the item to be shipped.

There are actually a number of yahoo groups that have the word 'classifieds' in them to allow ppl to sell items. Check to see if there is one in your area.

craigslist.com. Use a search engine to see if there's a craigslist in your area. They have an area where you can post things for sale for free.

Give it away or put it in the garbage.

Does anyone put this much energy into trying to sell this kind of rubbish anymore?

I would try and donate it and get the full value of it written off as a tax deduction. it will probably be benefiting someone else too!
