Use a grill brick, oil and a lot of elbow grease
Then use a grill screen and elbow grease
Then scrape it all into the trough then wipe it down with paper towels or a good cotton cloth. If you didn't get it all, do it again. The special hint is that the grill must still be hot in order to clean it.

I use a liquid grill cleaner which I put in a trigger spray bottle diluted with 1/2 water.I spray & scrape with a scraper of sorts. Putty knife or dough scraper will work. Then rinse & scrape 3 times with pure water,& then oil slightly & spread with a piece of paper towel. Hope it works for you------has been working for me for 30 years
