I know it's one of the sign and symptoms of withdrawal from tobacco - depression, irritability. My husband got it bad and I'm beginning to feel depress because he is so blue. He don't even want to do the things that use to interest him anymore. What should I do?? ** He don't use patches he just quit cold-turkey. Unbelievable.

Yeah its reallllly hard. The best thing that helped me when I quit (before I started again) was working out. Just going and walking for like 30 minutes. He will feel like walking is the absolute LAST THING on earth that he wants to do but exercising boosts your enery. Also the walking will cause him to caugh up yellow stuff the next morning (not uncomfortable) but it will help clear all that crap out of his lungs.

Been on your shoes and almost cost a divorce. My husband had 2 heart attacks and he started back to smoke after losing his job when 9/11 happened. He would actually hide and brush his teeth etc.. I don't smoke so I can smell it a mile away, I got mad at him, yelled tried talking to him, everything, this went on for a couple of years on and off. Just a couple of months ago we finally sat down and talked like good friends. He also quit cold turkey now I try to make him laugh and when he is not "thinking" about it and we are watching TV or something I get up kiss him, hold him and mention something totally sexy out of the blue and he asks me what brought that on? I tell him I love him more than I did before and he really turns me on specially now that he does not smoke well sometimes we do not finish the program we were watching sometimes we just laugh... (By the way I am 51 he is 60) Good luck and may GOD bless you both.

Get him a patch, some Wellbutrin (it will help with the cravings and the irritability) and get something sexy on and take his mind off of the cigs.

stopping the use of cancer sticks is not a cause of depression! have him, and maybe you, see a doctor for evaluation and treatment of depression. lack of interest in things one was previously interested in is one of the symptoms of depression!

You'll just have to suffer like he is...sounds like he's enjoying the pain. Work with him and cudo's to you for recognizing it for what it is.
