What are some examples of prophecies fulfilled that had been predicted by the Bible?

Once was a Christian, and now I see it VERY hard to believe that the Bible is in fact not a story, and Jesus did walk on water, turn water to wine, etc.

I have an understanding through Sciene/Physics/Quantum Mechanics that explain a lot of natural phenomena, such as Quantum Tunneling, etc. and find it very hard to swallow God made everything so extremely complicated.

Any words?

Crucifixian was a common punishment back then.

Is it because 900 years prior to the routine punishment, it was not even heard of?

Just to begin with; read the book of Ezekiel concerning the cities of Tyre and Sidon. Check the events in the encyclopedia Britannica. It was said 300 years in advance about Tyre ( a city then with the population and trade comparable to modern New York City) that it would be scraped off like the top of a rock. 300 years later Alexander The Great conquered what was thought to be the impregnable 1500 year old city. When they fled to the island of their original city (that had 15 story walls surrounding it) Alexander scraped the soil off the coastal city he had just conquered into the ocean making the island a peninsula and conquering it as well. The prophecy gets very specific and says that the city would NEVER be rebuilt. It hasn't to this day. Britannica gives much information.
Just 15 miles south of Tyre is Sidon. Ezekiel wrote what God told him of it also. Through Ezekiel, God foretold of Sidon's many conquerors but He said it would survive. It stands to this day.Britannica also has much about the history of Sidon. Probably the most notable is in Ezekiel chapter 30 where God said 2500 years ago that there would no more be a prince of Egypt. Check history. They have had Albanian presidents, Arab leaders, many races OTHER THAN an Egyptian leader ever since. These are only a few!

There are no significant prophecies that can be determined to have been predicted first and fulfilled later. There are a few rather obvious prophecies that came true, several after the fact "prophecies", and a few self-fulfilling prophecies (made to happen by people because they were prophesied). The rest are simply ad hoc after the fact reinterpretations of non-prophecies, such as the oft cited Isaiah 53, which is explicitly explained in chapter 49 to be a contemporary poetic commentary about the nation of Israel, not a prophecy of future events.

Science is a limited discipline. It is subject to constant change and revision in its findings. Just let some time go by and theories get rejected or revised or invented. I person who totally trusts in science can not possibly have a stable worldview. Science is a limited tool and should be seen that way. It is useful but can not answer or analyze what is outside physical observation for the most part. Science does not give us real understanding on what life is. For example: a dead body cannot be given life, man cannot create it, it is only passed on in the procreation process. It is a spiritual issue that is in the realm of a Creator-God. The song says "she blinded him with science" for a reason. A child can often see the world around them and see God's handiwork. It's that easy. Thinking we know so much can make us arrogant and lead us to reject the obvious at times. Until you deal with this issue I don't think any prophecy will make much of a difference for you. I actually hope I'm wrong on this point for your sake.

Here's the way I see it. The bible isn't a book of literal history, it's a book to help you through crap, a book of life lessons. Okay, look at the 40 years in the desert before they crossed Jordan to get to Jerico. C'mon now, that journey couldn't have taken more than a few weeks...... The way I take it is it's a lesson of perserverence.....don't give up...... My life has been like that 40 yrs in the desert....roaming around, not knowing exactly where I was going or why. If I don't give up, and keep pressing on, no matter how hopeless it seems, soon I'll be crossing that river and I'll have the walls of Jerico tumbling down.

Hope I made sense. :)

BIBLE:
B - basic
I - instruction
B - before
L - leaving
E - earth

If you truly are interested in finding out about fulfilled Biblical prophecies, check out 100prophecies.org. There is so much information that it would be impossible to answer your question here.

Just to quickly address your second concern about the possibility of Jesus doing the things the Bible says that He did, the first thing you must do is to read the first 4 books of the New Testament for yourself (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.) If you are relying on the words of one of us you would be making a huge mistake! Let the actual document speak for itself. It is the Divinely-inspired Word of God, which means that man didn't write it under his own power, but that God actually inspired the men to write specific words. I have found that many, many people say negative things about the Bible, though they have never read it for themselves. That's like having your neighbor make all your life decisions for you (the important stuff like who to marry or where to work.) You wouldn't do that, I'm sure. But this is a really important subject that could possibly have eternal consequences. If it's not true, you haven't really lost anything. But if it IS true and you have arbitrarily decided to ignore it, the decision could have eternal consequences. That is a lot to risk.

Wow you really need to read Job 38.
The chapter starts a little something like this, (God is speaking here) "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now gird up your loins like a man and I will ask you and you instruct ME!"
God goes on to ask Job a ton of questions about creation, nature, science, basically saying "Hey since you are so smart why don't you explain to ME all themysteries of the universe."
Job is so in awe at the end that hesays "Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
Also "there is a way which seems right to a man but its end is destruction" aka "dont rely on your own understanding since you 're not the one that created all this

We all by nature, like to think we are pretty smart but it takes a lot of humility to realize your human understanding and knowledge is nothing compared to the Creator - this is the first step in believing in the Bible - not through trying to strain for historical proof of a miracle from 2000 years ago

Roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40:22)

Almost infinite extent of the sidereal universe (Isaiah 55:9)

Law of conservation of mass and energy (II Peter 3:7)

Hydrologic cycle (Ecclesiastes 1:7)

Vast number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22)

Law of increasing entropy (Psalm 102:25-27)

Paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17:11)

Atmospheric circulation (Ecclesiastes 1:6)

Gravitational field (Job 26:7)
These are not stated in the technical jargon of modern science, of course, but in terms of the basic world of man's everyday experience; nevertheless, they are completely in accord with the most modern scientific facts.

It is significant also that no real mistake has ever been demonstrated in the Bible -- in science, in history, or in any other subject. Many have been claimed, of course, but conservative Bible scholars have always been able to work out reasonable solutions to all such problems.

All truth leaves a physical imprint on the earth. there has never been physical proof that jesus existed. It's fairy tales taken out of context giving a few people control over many. Religion can be very dangerous if we don't keep challenging it. If they have scare and threaten you to believe then they can't justify what they say.
