Because when someone tells you that every thing you have believed in your whole life is wrong and bad you start thinking they are the evil ones. A perfect example of this is Hawaii. They had a life that accepted that sex and love and children were all good things. When the Christians came they were told this was wrong and must be stopped. Most if not all the Christians were white and any where they went they felt the had the right to change the way of life that had been for thousands of years.

Because TV & Movies most always make the guy wearing the cross or the religious guy into the evil twisted killer or the bad guy. The Media creates the perception deliberatley that Christians are evil. it's not an accident it's intentional demonisation of Christianity.

Not everyone does, of course. But to the degree that some people do, there are various reasons.
1. Some people consider Christian ethics to be at least partly immoral. For example, some believe that Chrsitianity condems homosexuality and that such a condemnation is immoral.
2. Some people believe that people who claim to be Christian generally don't live according to their stated beliefs. That is, that most "Christians" don't live like "Christians".
3. Some Christians are vocal and evangelical, not just trying to spread their religion but proclaiming its moral superiority. That's natural and understandable, but if one does not agree that Christianity is morally superior, such claims will cause a backlash.
4. In the United States, at least, a majority of people would probably claim to be Christian if asked, and Christians are a strong political force. Furthermore, there are active groups attempting to direct American life, or at least parts of it, according to Christian (or allegedly Christian) ideas. Such power and activity will be seen by some as a threat to impose an inferior morality on their lives.
But all in all, it's important to note that in general, only the extremes are aired in political arenas and reported in the media. For the most part, Christians and non-Christians (in America at least) get along just fine.

Christian groups have done some things over the ages that could be considered evil, such as massive killing in Holy Wars, etc. That doesn't mean Christians are evil, but the perception by non-christians can be that they are evil based on these things.

Hello -
A general negative attitude toward Christianity has several sources.
1) Character. Unfortunately, the behavior of Christians and their spiritual leaders has often been deplorable. Professing Christian monarchs have traditionally found it difficult to act according to Christian morals, and many have committed terrible atrocities even in the name of Christ himself. The Popes have an extremely questionable history, whose decadence peaked during the Renaissance. Also, the evangelical activities of missionaries abroad have also been historically suspect, with some resorting to starvation, murder, and destruction to secure converts. Christians are hated for their hypocrisy.
2) Theology. Some critics see a certain theological duplicity in Christianity's topical similarities to other (pagan) religions. Those who see Christianity as "evil" often point to theological identification with Buddhist, Greek, Roman, Cynic, and even Egyptian religion -- the very religions Christianity was supposed to replace. For many, this constitutes a kind of doctrinal hypocrisy, and a historical deceit. Christians are hated for their deception.
3) Morality. The Christian moral code is social in nature and undeniably severe, and has often enabled the persecution of "unclean" constituencies. The debates regarding homosexuality, witchcraft, and abortion are key examples of this. Christians are hated for their hatred.
4) Construction. The Biblical ideas of "the Antichrist" and "Satan" have allowed Christian ideologues to "construct" enemies, making their opponents much more horrible and worthy of hatred than they otherwise would be. These labels have been consistently applied to enemies -- Christian or otherwise -- for centuries, and have allowed Christians to justify terrible historical acts -- acts which have in some places almost permanently damaged the Christian reputation. Christians are hated for their rhetoric.
These are just a few reasons.
By living in fidelity to the gospel themes of compassion, mercy, and, most importantly, love in the context of Christ's message, Christians can change this perception.
Sorry for the long post, I was bored.

Evil? No, I think they are pushy, over zealous and close-minded. However, if you read about the crusades, you could understand why some folks think that "christians" are evil. Pat Robertson and Dr. Dobson come to mind on this one, Jerry Falwell, Jim Baker....wow, I forgot that there were so many out there! The priest that molest children.....do I need to keep going?

I don't think true Christians are evil at all. It's those who pose as Christians and do evil things in God's name (aka the "Christian Right" in the US) who get on my nerves.

many people find christians evil, just as many people find muslims evil. people like to trash each others religions. both religions use basically the same tactics to say "how bad the other religion is".

I'm a muslim and deeply respect the christians & jews as required by my religion. Our prophet asked us so too.
It's an atheist plot to make the three monotheistic religions fight each other, otherwise how would they get a chance to promote their materialistic philosophy.
