They believe that they are in love. Sometimes things happen that make you fall out of love. It's a good idea to have pre marital counseling before making such a big commitment. Marriage sometimes changes people. And sometimes people change.

Point blank, I think there is just not enough communication today, and people sometimes get into marriage with blinders, either not noticing differences, or falsely believe that they can overcome major personality/lifestyle differences.
One example, a non-drug user believes that she can get passed her guy's drug abuse, or a Christian guy believes that the fact his woman is an atheist won't get in the way of things.
Though no two people can be exactly alike, some differences do matter in the long run, and some people just don't thoroughly think things out first.
But then, time has changed from when our parents/grandparents came about.
I'm afraid of marriage, because it's against my convictions to get divorced. I co-habited with guys, and luckily I did not marry them; the relationships were troubled!

It's ignorant to generalize and say that all people will get divorced in five years. No one has the right to opinionate on a couples decision to get married. Some last, some don't but not all divorce. Some people are bitter about marriage and some have a positive view of marriage. It's their own right to do whatever they please. Who wants to end up old and alone!

People get married to have someone. To be with another is human nature. I don't believe that they think they will be divorced. I think people are going to fast. And also having relations with someone give you a false sense of love. Slow down.

HA - i don't imagine they go into it knowing that they will be getting a divorce in 5 years.

Because they feel lonley at the moment and only wnat someone to be around.. or maybe they think the relationship will work..when they're wrong. Not all marriges end in 5 years either. Some can last until they are old and gray! Have faith dude!

Well it's not like they KNOW that, when people get married they think it'll last forever. Unfortunately people don't take enough time before getting married a lot of the time and even when they do, people can change so you never know if it will last. Love is complicated, which is why I keep far from it usually. ^_^

When people marry each other, there are always good intentions, one to the other. Life is not always a smooth path; in fact, it's rough, most of the time, one way or another. So it takes determination to overcome life's obstacles, and to stay committed to each other. And that's an actual decision, I think.

Well, duh.
1) Not everyone will be divorced in 5 years. Or ever, for that matter.
2) At the time, everyone believes THEIR love will last forever. Nobody thinks it'll only be for 5 years.
