Why do your parents tell you not to take candy from stangers,but then they send you out trick or treating?

Do they send you to strange houses to trick or treat? I would think they would know the people you are taking the candy from. Taking candy from a stranger is totally different. They mean when someone comes up and gives you candy, you have to see the logistics there.

Your parents were attempting to protect you from child molesters, evil poisoners and being abducted when telling you not to take candy from strangers. Did your parents not accompany you while trick or treating? Of course they did, to protect you from the same evil doers.

They send you out trick or treating to a neighborhood of people THEY know, and if something, god forbid, happens, they have a limited parameter in which to search.
