It usually takes dogs 3 weeks to get over grieving...But, sometimes they are just too big hearted and never get over it.

Sorry to hear about the loss, Your loved one has gone over the rainbow bridge to be with the Lord. (not trying to sound religious), and he or she will be waiting on the other side for your return. What you can do, is give the dog time, reasure him that he is not alone for your going thru the same thing. If you can find a stuffed animal that looks sort of like the dog you lost. He might not feel so lonley if he has some thing that looks like the one you lost. and then when you are ready, get another dog. There are so many in the shelters that need a good home. You can also go to www.petfinder.com Hope this helps.

So sorry for the loss of your dog. Your pom is grieving in the same way that you are. He thinks the pom is coming back home soon and is waiting by the door for his return. The best thing that you can do for the pom and for yourself in the long run is to get another dog.

Your baby is really lonely. The thought of getting another pup may be out of the question-until the grieving is over anyhow. Maybe try going on more walks, going to doggy parks or just having play dates with other dog owners. If and when you are ready, you can get another pup but only you know how your other pup will react. If they are older they may not adjust as easily. I really feel for you...we rescued a boxer from a backyard breeder (screw all backyard breeders!!) and we had him for about 4 months before we had to put him to sleep. It was one of the most difficult things I have had to do but after time we opened our home to another rescued pup. We never replaced our Bronx, we only added another innocent life into our lives. Good luck to you and godspeed your sweet baby.

Your little dog is heart broken, as I'm sure you are. Don't try to get him to play. He will when he's ready. Let him grieve, and comfort him and accept his comfort for you. His behaviour is very normal. Pet death is a serious loss, and must be dealt with just as any other loss. Give him time, and show him as much affection you can. He'll be all right. My prayers are with you and your sweet baby.

Dogs need to mourn just like people do.
My brother's dog is just coming to grips with loosing her friend... and that was a few months ago.

Get some lavender oil sprinkle a drop or two need his bed...and food dish. Or put some on a kleenex to difuse.

Our dog needed that when her friend ... died. Dogs need time to heal just as you do too. the Lavender will help you both..give it time..

Blessings to you,

Sorry, I know the pain you are going through. Your pom is grieving. There is no way to explain it all to him. Just give him lots of love and attention. He will get over it in time as you will.

My favourite dog passed on, I cried for weeks. He was with me ever since I was a child. I still miss him up to this day. You must feel really bad. I'm so sorry to hear what happened.

It will take him a few weeks to get through the separation. You may want to get him another friend. Until you decide what to do, be patient with him now through his separation time.
