because parents like to put to much pressure on kids and it just another way of them saying they want you to do better!

They want you to be the best in the class. With such a drive for perfection now just getting 100% doesn't seem to be enough. Especially for people going into colleges. I know that in California there is a lot of competition to get into the good schools, so one way to make yourself stand out is to have stellar grades. Many people get 100% on tests and whatnot so to show that you truly know what you're doing, people want you to go A and B the C of D (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty). Of course, this doesn't work unless there is extra credit offered.

Parents want to push you do always get 100s. They don't really mean that 101 is what we need. If you think about music, some band directors tell you to play as loud as you can, cut you off. Then tell you to play louder. This is a way of hacking into your mental phycia and making you reach excellence by striving for something that's nearly impossible.

doing 100 % is doing the best for the time doing 101% gives us inventions.
100 % use to be putting food on the cave floor. Someone did 101% and we got fire. Which in turn became the new 100% and someone went 101% and gave us a table to eat from and so forth

Because they don't think like math majors. Many people hold back a little and stay in their comfort zone saying yes I could have done it I had put a little more effort into it. The parents are saying go for it.

They say that because they want their kids to exceed in whatever they do. Give it their all. Not only on tests, but on all your goals in life. Parents always want the best for their children. 100% is Excellent, but 101% is Extrordinary.

My parents never worded it that way. I think when parents say that they mean

"We expect you to do the best that you can do, and if you don't do your best in everything you do, then it is not good enough"

My parents use to tell me they were proud of me no matter what, as long as I tried my best.

That's really weird. It's impossible to get more than 100% unless there's extra credit on the test!

Although it's really the wrong way to go about it, some parents feel that that is an effective means of motivation.

i think because they want the child to go above and beyond even though they are proud.they expect their child to do better than everyone Else so when the child does good the parent wants them to do extraordinary even when the child has tried tier best.
