i can understand why a person would want to be euthanized. in oregon, they call it "dying with dignity" for a reason. instead of a drawn out death that costs more and more each day, and instead of succumbing to the most horrible ways a person can die, these people choose to die with what dignity they have left.

i saw my grandpa die in front of me, and it was the worst sight i've ever seen. he was in such pain and convulsing with blood actually coming from his mouth, only to have more pour out when he finally passed. and yet this is the last image i have of him. euthanasia gives a loved one a chance to pass more peacefully.

but it is a person's choice, and i respect both the choice to continue living with the disease and to euthanize yourself.

That all depends on the person and what their family beliefs and their religious beliefs. Some religions would consider euthanasia as suicide, and that depends on whether it is active or passive euthanasia. Each of these differ.

Active euthanasia is when the person seeks methods actively to end the pain. Passive euthanasia is when the person decides to stop taking his/her medicine or some form of passive methods. To end his/her life takes a lot of time thinking and pondering if this is something that they want to do.

To suffer is something that the person's family would advocate for a while, until they realize the pain the patient is going through.

This is the quality vs. quantity of life issue. A long, painful illness is best ended if there is no quality of life (or the person suffering views it that way). People should not have to suffer for years without any relief in sight (even dogs are mercifully put to sleep). I believe euthanasia should be legalized in all states. Anyone who does not have the quality of life they deserve should be able to have it ended peacefully.

I dont know what is better, not in that boat. However if I was in a long painful illness, I would like to have the choice to take a fast peaceful death weather I would do it or not. That should be up to me, not the Government.

I go for euthanasia. if the pain is not manageable then there can not be a reasonable quality of life.

Believe it or not there's no easy answer. I think that Jesus himself would have unplugged many of the people whom these stupid doctors have kept alive.

I think everyone should have the right to die the way they want to. We cannot live the way we want to, death should then be our decision.

Death shouldn't be our decision, it should be God's decision.
