From all signs he does (i.e. buys me dinner, opens doors for me, tells me that he wants to get married to me as soon as possible and have kids together, he and I each have two kids from our ex's, tells me about his deepest thoughts, we have talked about opening our own bakery together, etc), but then sometimes his behavior is off (i.e. not calling me when he says he will) He works very hard at his job 80+ a week, so that does play a factor, we are not having sex, that is our choice based on what the Bible says about not having sex outside of marriage. Does he honestly like me or is his just passing the time with me?

sounds like he likes you...no offense, but if you're not having sex, he's sticking around for something. although there are a lot of charmers out there who are full of b.s., it's pretty hard to fake deep thoughts and talks of marriage. will he be proposing soon? when he does, you'll know it's for real.

If he rushed into this, trying to sweep you off your feet and rush into marriage I'd say there's likely a major problem--more that he's a control freak than just toying with you. If this relationship developed normally then I'd say he's a typical stressed-out male. I wouldn't make any commitment until this 80+ hours a week is straightened out. If it's temporary, wait until you see what he's like under a normal work load. If it's permanent, then he's got a major problem with addiction or boundaries or something. No one can maintain that pace and be a decent husband and father.

Relationships are so complex and hard! I feel your stress. If I was in your shoes I would sit down with him and have a heart to heart. Tell him you need to know if he is in this for the long run. By looking in his eyes and listening to his answer you will be able to tell if he is playing you or not.
