well i don't know how old you are, but if you have kids, i would suggest bringing one of them with you. you can't freak out in front of your kid because if you do you will have a future of hell trying to convince them to get their shots. if you don't have kids, bring a girl with you. i'm sure you wouldn't want to freak out in front of a girl. or, if neither of those suggestions work, you could always try to say to yourself that at least you aren't getting a prostate exam and if you don't know what that entails, have the doc explain it to you before he draws your blood. i think that description will make the blood draw seem like a piece of cake. good luck and keep your chin up, needles aren't all that bad :)

I am terrified of needles too but as I got older I realized that this is a part of life and I had to figure out how to deal with it. So whenever I have to get blood drawn I just close my eyes, look the other way, and take deep breaths until its over with. It's never as bad as I imagine it's going to be and it's usually over with in a flash. I hope this helps! Good luck....

particular, Like dalmation rescue mentioned- provide the shot interior the neck area suited by the shoulder blades. Get a good sized pinch of epidermis, make particular all the air bubbles are out of the shot syringe determine which you do get the shot decrease than the floor yet no longer by the different section and don't poke your self. you could draw decrease back to envision for blood- it won't harm the puppy. do no longer take too long because of the fact the canines could desire to start getting nerve-racking. Then basically push the plunger down and withdraw the needle. at the same time with your palms experience during the section and rubdown in a rapid around action for a 2d. this might unfold the serum out decrease than the floor. in case you experience any wetness of greater beneficial than a drop or 2 (that's no longer blood) think approximately positioned the shot during the floor and not administered it appropriate. If this occurs then take the canines to the vet so as that they are able to grant the shot back appropriate. do no longer worry it is an exceedingly consumer-friendly component to do. I volunteered at a close-by vet's place of work commencing while i became in 5th grade and at that age i began out giving photos to canines. (With the vet's training of course) so if a 5th grader can do it- so are you able to! :)

Maybe you can take a friend along and have them hold your hand while you are going through it. I share the fear of needles, yet with the help of friends, I've been able to have blood drawn as well as donate blood.

Get a friend on your side and let them be a coach!

i am too. i also have very small veins so it is hard for them to find them. i have a rare blood type,so my blood goes to babies. so i just turn away, grit my teeth and think of who i am helping,i also let the person doing it know i am terrified of needles and get them to keep a fast conversation going to keep my mind off of it.don't think about what they are doing, but that you are helping. it doesn't take long so find another focus (pictures, your vacation, anything). that's what helps me.good luck.

The feeling of them sticking a needle in your arm feels just like pinching yourself with your fingernails, after that, it doesn't feel bad, just sore afterwards like a bruise.

its really no pain, just think of the reason why u are giving blood, to save someone's life or something good, and keep thinking it, and before u know it, your all done!! take something with sugar to eat while your doing it, so your nerves dont draw u to faint or something.
