It has nothing to do with the customers and everything to do with the employees of the bank.

Being primarily a Christian nation when the country started, up until the last 20 years, we gave allowance to the fact that the majority of people refused to work on Sunday, it being a commandment and all.

But hey, not to fret for yourself, there are banks open on Sundays now, the little branch locations in the grocery stores are often open then.

It is a practice that was formed on account of the old "Blue Laws".
This was an established unwritten law that governed how many things were done including business hours. Many grocery stores at one time were closed Sundays and open only half day Wednesdays.

Banks are closed on Sundays because there needs to be one day of rest for the people that work there.

It is the old fashioned way to give the people who work one day of rest. AND it is the way God wanted it in the Bible from the beginning.

Your right banks should be open on Sundays, so all the church goers can stop in to get their money for donations. Which is suppose to be 15% of your income now, I believe. Why is good so great at doing everything except handle money, hey that proves it, God's a woman.

Banks not open on Sunday stops you from going to worship? I don't see the connection unless you worship inside a bank.

338 AD. The first Sunday law ever. Constantin on the behest of the Catholic church signed a law prohibiting business opening on sunday. If you want a day of rest: do it the Biblical way, Saturday. Even the Catholics agree on that ( if you want to do the Bible way then you have got to rest on the seventh day and that is Saturday).

Mine is...but why would it stop people from going to worship? Do you need money to get in the church? Go on Saturday then!

Listen, if YOU don't like to work on Sundays, then don't buy anything on Sundays. The only reason why people have to work on Sundays is because people shop on Sundays. Simple economics.

I think we all need one day a week to rest and not worry about work. We've become so accustomed to having a day off every week that I think we would all burn out if we had to work on Sunday.
