I would leave it alone. If he's 11, he's lived a good life, and surgery can make it more painful. There's a risk of infection, since cancer affects the immune system. If he's happy, and i assume he is. Otherwise, he probably wouldn't have lived this long. The fact that you are asking means you care about him. My best wishes for you and your baby.
Just show him love and affection as much as you can. Keep him stimulated and let him play as much as possible.

My Schnauzer is 15 and she is still living the good life. She had major surgery to remove a tumor on her rear leg two years ago. The leg no longer works but she is a happy puppy. Amputation is the only way to go and your dog may live several more happy years...with or without 2 ears.

Ask your Vet about Xterra. IT is made from Indian Blood Root, which is a plant.
I have a horse with skin cancer and it has taken the cancer off. The juice of the plant interupts the cell growth of the cancer. In no way take,or give this internally. It is for External or outside cancers only.
I am not sure if there is a way to keep the ear bandaged while it is on or if it is inside the ear you may not be able to use it.
But, do ask your vet.
I do not know if any of the links below will be able to answer your question, or help. DO not use with out adult supervision, better yet, let the adult apply it.

See the vet. Eleven is rather old for a Miniature Schnauzer. Keep him comfortable and when you can no longer do that, have him euthanized. I love schnauzers. I have a young one, myself. I'm so sorry to hear yours has this problem. Good Luck

The only way to get rid of it is to amputate. However, if you chose not to, make sure you ask your vet for some prednisone or some other type of steroid to help ease the pain. Most of the time though, with surgery, you get great results. He could have a lot of happy time with you left in him =)

The ONLY way is the amputation of the tumor.. No.. there is another way and that is with radiation.. but.. believe me.. the expense would be horrendous and it would not be fair to the poor dog to put it through chemo.

I had a Lhasa with a tumor in his mouth. I chose not to operate (removing part of his cheek bone). I let him die naturally, but now I feel like he suffered. Watch your dog closely. Don't let him go too long before he begins to suffer. Good luck.
