I had belly fat, too. I have been working on it and now I'm not ashamed to wear my bikini. I had a c - section two yrs ago and it was almost impossible to get rid of. Try sit ups and leg lifts.

This is a common question and losing belly flab is one of the most irksome tasks. I think a lot of is genetic, but you can certainly lose some of the flab if you work at it.

Here are some tips that I've learned:

1) Make sure you take in less calories than you burn. This means using a tool like http://www.fitday.com to record your activities and food intake. You want to shoot for 250 - 500 calories below the calories you burn (on a daily basis).

2) Avoid refined sugar. High-fructose corn syrup, sugar, and simple carbs (i.e. white bread) can lead to fat storage due to insulin spikes (Even if you under eat).

3) Eat many small meals throughout the day. The usual recommendation is 6 meals. They shouldn't be foodfests -- just 300 - 400 calories each. Be sure they are healthy, have fiber / protein and good carbs. Up your protein but don't neglect carbs all together -- you need them to work out.

4) Continue to workout. Since you are a runner, be sure that you include at least one long run per week. This is really where you tap into your fat stores. You be the judge of what a long run is, but it is generally 50% to 100% longer than your normal run. (So if you normally do 4 miles, do 6 - 8).

5) Don't obsess over crunches and situps. They ain't going to make the flab go away no matter what the infomercials say.

6) Hit the weights or do strength training. Muscle increases your calorie burn. The amount is somewhat small, but every little bit helps.

7) Buy a body fat percentage scale. You can get them at WalMart or Bed Bath Beyond for around $50. That way you can monitor your body fat percentage to see how much you have to lose. To see abs, it is generally regarded that you must have a body fat percentage of less than 10%. Anything less than 5% is considered somewhat unhealthy (you need some fat on you for health believe it or not).

Don't get discouraged if you don't see your abs. I think achieving them once you've been overweight is a little bit of an art and more genetic than magazines / books let it on to be. However, be dedicated for a while and see what happens and in the mean time enjoy being fit and having your weight in control.

Good luck.

keep running. lots of cardio will help you lose the belly fat. if that's not working, try cutting your calories just a bit. like if you eat 2000 a calries a day, cut it to 1700. try picking up an exercise video, too, like Tae Bo. Remember, it's not just trying to get rid of belly fat, it's an all over workout that helps to contribute to your overall fat loss. And don't forget the crunches and sit ups!

Crunches and sit down-united statesdo no longer minimize stomach fats! Only aerobic and weight coaching coupled with a minimize in caloric consumption will lessen your stomach. Keep doing all of your abwork, however do not do it with weights or you're going to upload muscle bulk. Now get off the ground and get to the health club!
