Well, the only thing "leftist liberals" are intolerant of is intolerance.
Not exactly a bad thing.
They don't have a problem with religion (many of them are Religious/ Christian/ Muslim/etc.), but parts of religion that are intolerant.

You have a point in that many Atheists, such as myself, are very intolerant of religion in any form. I actually quit an Atheist group because they wouldn't even listen to any talk about the benefits of religion.
However, I think most Atheists (notice I am not using 'leftist' liberals because I think there's quite a difference) feel that religion is forced on them by the majority of people. That's why they might seem intolerant at times.
Believe me, a devout Atheist (!), when I say that even though I don't believe in God, I can respect those who do and want to practice religion as they see fit. As long as it doesn't interfere with me and my personal freedoms.

They're not. They're intolerant of attempts to "Sneak" religion into clearly secular settings. Why? Because invariably that means inserting a very narrow religious perspective into what should be a public accomodation. Most protestants would rail loudly if they found themselves in a predominantly Catholic, Jewish or Muslim communitiy and were told to follow along because it's what the majority wants. Our forefathers had enough of this game with the Puritans et al and understood that separation of church and state protects both! That's why the U.S. enjoys one of the highest rates of religious participation in the world. It's also why many religious denominations vigorously defend that separation as well.

Because the religious people are so intolerant and trying to change laws to make the USA intolerant. Religion shouldn't be law! That is the basis of our country. Stop making your personal beliefs into laws. It's not right.

I cannot speak for all liberals, but I personally believe in separation of church and state. I'm not removal of all religion, but celebration of all. The ten commandments cannot go up in front of a governmental building because we would also need to erect religous advice from Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism, etc., and that's just not reasonable. Don't worry, most of aren't out to ban religion, just prevent ANYONE from having a religion pushed on him or her. What if Muslims made up a large portion of the population and began pushing for Islam to be a major force in the government, working it into the pledge and such? Wouldn't you be outraged that you were told to pledge your allegience to our one nation, under Allah?
I have great respect for those dedicated enough to actively practice religion, but I don't believe it has a place in the government.

Us liberals are open minded and don't like overly religious idiots telling every one what to do and how to live our life's ! Getting to the point . If you don't like it don't do it , but don't tell me not to just because you don''t ! It's a free country your not the only people who live here and you need to learn to respect the rights of all Americas citizens no matter what they believe in . When you stop trying to oppress gays , non Christians and pro choicer's , then you will see tolerance !

Liberals are all different, some are religious & some aren't. And by religious I mean all different religions not just christianity. What Liberals agree on is equality for all religions. Maybe you're feeling that your religion is threatened because they don't put christianity above all others? Believe me, they would fight for chrisitan rights just as hard as any other religion's, because it is your right as a US citizen, but they won't fight ONLY for christian rights...

haha...that's like the pot calling the kettle black. Leftist liberals are generally well aware and learned in many religions and open to their viewpoints.
The question is why do some people call them intolerant when they are not wholeheartedly willing to convert and be born again?

Liberals, dont tolerate intolerance. think about how you feel about KKK and Nazis and incorporate that to how a Liberal might feel about the average fundamentalist christian or muslim. I hope you see the connection with that analogy.
"CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED"
Ever hear the phrase, "You can dish it out, but you can't take it"? That's what's happening when Fundamentalists use this statement. They have been on the attack for years now, trying to deny rights to homosexuals, trying to outlaw abortions, trying to keep women from obtaining equal rights, and trying to impose their own morals - many of them non-biblical - on the rest of society. Non-Fundamentalists are finally fighting back by speaking out against their campaigns, their media onslaughts, and their mistaken notions of truth, and the Fundamentalists don't like it very much. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. So when people of good conscience stand up for their rights, Fundamentalists cry foul - they claim they are being persecuted.
Fundamentalists see this "persecution" as biblical proof of being on God's side. It's not. Their so-called persecution is merely the rest of society defending itself from their attacks. Their so-called persecution is merely being called to the carpet for their actions. Their so-called persecution comes in the form of editorials that don't paint them in a glowing light or legislation that goes against their made-truths. If they can't get their schools to allow them to pray to their God during class time, they claim they are being attacked. What would happen if Buddhists and Muslims tried to get the same special rights? Fundamentalists would be beside themselves in anger.
This is not the persecution mentioned in the Bible. The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16). And yet these people have the gall to claim they are being persecuted in God's name. They are not. All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism.
demonizing liberals wont solve anything. neither will another Dark Age lead by the religious right. diplomacy may be best, but it seems like neither side wants that.

They're not tollerant of religion, they reject any right to free speech if it goes against what they believe, they want us to pay more in taxes while they hide their money in off-shore. The link in my source is the PERFECT book that you should read. I gotta pick this up myself (I think I will tomorrow) but this book tells EVERYTHING about the Democrats and how they are hypocrites.
