Is it possible that the entire world didn't flood and Noah only took the animals he cared about (domesticated animals like goats, cows, chickens etc on a little boat)?

First if you lived with out telephones, television, photographs, newspapers, and could only travel as far as an animal could take you how big would your flat world be? Maybe the flood that flooded the world only flooded Noah's knowledge of what the world was?

Second, how could Noah and his children cut down enough trees to build an ark for all the animals? Even is God fell all the trees and delivered them to Noah there wouldn't be enough time in a life to plank and make lumber from all those trees.

Third how did all the animals in the Americas walk across the ocean to find Noah.

Finally, I've been to some pretty big zoos and seen some pretty big boats. It doesn't even seem possible to ft all the animal sceceis in the world on the biggest ship, an aircraft carrier.

that is quite an involved question and i will try and answer some of your points

# - animal travel - some experts reckon that all the contentants were one land mass once upon a time and are drifting apart on different tectonic plates - hence all the animals could have traveled to one location across land and land bridges. During the flood the land mass split and up and drifted apart. the magma that was released would have heated up the sea and sent off steam which would have encouraged greater amounts of rain (as recorded in Noahs flood)

# amount of trees - people lived a lot longer in those days - noah was 600 when he died- his 3 sons were 100 when the flood came so that gives many decades of man-years of work on the ark. (if we take a man year to be the amount of work one man can do in a year)

# - see point one

# finally - if we consider that cats like lions and tigers had a common ancestor with all the genes contained that we find within both species (similar with dogs/ cattle/ insects/ etc etc etc) and that for larger animals that a baby animal would have taken up less space than an adult then look at the actual size of the ark (with the different floor levels) then it all comes into perspective as a possibility.

My answer is from a perspective of someone who believes in the bible:

1. It was a miracle that all species came to the ark of their own accord and fit inside.
2. Even so human effort was required, and time was given for people to repent (they saw the building and laughed). The ark was made by Noah and his family over a period of 120 years.
3. If you need help on the proof side/evidence that a flood happened, there is a common geological layer found when digging the earth which shows a flood happened. Also most regions have common stories about a flood.
4. The Bible specifically states that flood, did flood the whole world so ... the limited area you mention does not agree with that account. Plus, wouldn't that generation have disagreed in historical records that it didn't happen if it wasn't true?

Yeah, and how did Noah stop the wood from rotting from insects and fungus without modern technology? By the time they finished bulding the end of the boat, the first half would have fallen apart. How did Noah get two blue whales onto the ark? Even if they didn't bring blue whales, they would have had to bring some types of fish, how was all that water contained and on the ark? Where did all the water from this massive flood go? To answer your question, Noah never got any animals on any ark, it's a fictitious story.

With God all things are possible. The ark measured 437 ft 6 inches by 72 ft 11 inches by 43 ft 9 inches. The ark had 1,400,000 cubit ft in volume. No cargo vessel of ancient times even slightly resembled the ark in its colossal size. God would have known how many animals would fit inside the ark and he could also have made limitations on the species that would be taken, along with Noah, his wife, and the seven others that were to be on board.

Noah was a geneticist, he just saved the animals DNA and did the whole Jurassic Park thing when the time was right. Which meant he only had to have a large, but not huge boat.
And the Earth has never had a world wide flood, although the Euphrates river area of Iraq does show signs of a massive flood.
But interestingly enough Mars shows signs of a planet-wide flood.

Maybe the Ark was a spaceship and he transported the DNA to earth. But I guess thats far fetched, but then agains so's the Bible.

first we know that the earths plates move at that time all the plates were as one, god then brought the animal to him through "instinct",another thing is how in the hell did all that water create well it wasn't from all the water in one spot. people back in the day lived to be over 1000 years old before they died, this is because over the world where the ozone is now or about around there was a thick plate of ice. hence god wiped out man be moving the earth closer to the earth, thus the sun melted all that water, after all this the plates started to break from all the water.anyways god gave noah time to bring men together and built that big boat we know as today as the ark, thats how that cookie crumbles i hope this answeres your question and then some.

God gave Noah magic wood. Then shrunk the animals down with a " micro-ray" All the animals went on a forty day fast. Noah quit boozing grabbed a tweezers and began collecting the 1.5 million species of insects. Figure if he caught 1000 insects a day it would take 4.1 years to collect only insects plus he needs a male and female insect......The bible never lies. He created a special organ in animals so they could take salt or fresh water into their system thus they would not explode or implode from osmotic pressure......Its in an edited book of the bible. Gullibility 12:5-9
What scares me is people believe this.

The Bible states that "Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark." (Genesis 7:15). This sounds to me like God directed the animals to go to the ark. The ark's measurements were: 450ft long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. There were lower and middle decks to hold the animals. The flood most likely extended to all the inhabited areas of the earth. The purpose of the waters was to destroy sinful mankind.
God said it! I believe it!

First, yes it is very possible that there was only a flooding of the "known" world. there is layers of earth in the area that would have been the "known" world at the time showing a major flood.

Also Noah is beleived to have been a king or at the least the leader of a major city and very rich. It is estimated that he would have had 100's if not 1000's of servants and workers doing the work.
( not just him and his sons)
