Well, volcanic eruptions happen less often and are natural occurences while jet and automative pollution can add up to a lot - especially cars - because they are so often used. ("Often" is an understatement.)

vulcanic ash remains suspended in the atmosphere in thick heavy clouds blocking nearly all light over long periods and subsequently causes global cooling through early and longer winters.additionally the ash settles preventing oxygen from the plants that man and animal depend upon, when animals graze on the dying plants they inhale the ash and it sticks to the inside of their lungs causes them to die a slow excruciating labored death. as evidenced by the demise of the wolly mammoths and other large herbavors which once lived on the plains of north america and europe and by the ice ages which have come and gone. conversely the polutants emited by cars and planes contribute to global warming through what are commonly reffered to as green house gasses which deteriorate the ozone and allow more sunlight to reach the earths surface causing global warming as do the emisions from animal waste and natural decay. this is a cycle which has repeated itself for eons long befor mans attributes and will continue long after man has ceased.
