Change his diet. I'm betting that there is soy in his current kibble? Soy = beans!
Loose stools and 'smells' come from undigested foods, so he needs one that he can digest better.
As a person living with 6 dogs in the house, I recommend Canidae, Innova, solid Gold, Wellness, Wysong. these pack the most nutrition and digestibility

There are many things that can cause loose stools in your dog. The vet is doing his best to figure it out. Flagyl and carafate is a common start to treat loose stools because they are inexpensive and work on 90% of the non-parasitic loose stool problems. They are now moving to a higher powered treatment in hopes cure what the previous meds did not. Your other options would be further lab work such as culture or biopsy of the intestines. Your vet is doing what they should be so have some faith.

It is most likely the type of dog food he's eating. If it has red kibbles in it, the dye causes gas. I know this from experiences. As soon as I changed to a brown dog food, the gas and loose stool stopped.

If the dog has been checked for worms I would suggest changing his food. Many dogs can not tolerate foods with certain ingredients. If the food has dyes or chemical preservatives it may be a problem for your dog. Try a naturally preserved (frequently vitamin E) food, a lamb and rice would probably be best if that doesn't work consult you vet.

I wpould chang the the diet. Our dog had the same problem, and after we made a few adjustments in her food, she quit. Or maybe try differnt food amounts or certain feeding schedule. Don't feed cheap brand foods. They often contain a lot of preservatives and junk, that cause this. I hope it works for you!

Put the puppy on s stable diet, No table scrapes, and no bones. Purina is a good dry dog food.
Bones splinter and can cut the throat, stomach lining and the bowels.
Spicy foods can upset the digestive tract.

Assuming he is healthy, you may want to have the vet prescribe a food that is special for dogs who are allergic to the proteins found in many dog foods. This was the answer for my dog. Thank God! Good luck.

Stop feeding him people food. We feed our dog only dog food and doggie bone biscuits. Don't let him low fibre stuff as it will plug up his system.
