Don't ask for a "DATE." Ask if he/she(?) knows of that great resturant in town that you haven't tried yet, and if that person would like to go with you ... not necessarily for a "date," but just to hang out. Don't push. If it's meant to be, it will be. That's a touchy situation, so you don't want to go too far - too fast. Just be mellow, and see how it goes. It may be that this person needs a real friend right now. Be very sensitive to actions and words. If you feel a hug or kiss coming on, ask first if it's ok. The last thing you want to do is make him/her uncomfortable. That will do nothing other than turn the person away. Take it slow. Good Luck!

First, be yourself. Then call that person up and ask them on a date. A date in a very public place with lots of other people around. Bring a nice small gift to show that you care and you are going to treat that person with dignity and the respect they deserve. If things go well, ask when you can see them in the future, make another day without strings attached and ask them to choose the destination so as not to put pressure on them. Whether it is in another public place or more private/imtimate, great! If you care for the person, where you go should not matter. While having conversation, do more listening than talking, great way to learn alot and find out if you two would like to continue the relationship.

If they are over their last relationship, you should be gentle with them. Take them to a casual lunch somewhere, and talk for a while. At the end, or near the end, ask if they'd like to go the the movies/beach/whereever you want to take them on this date.

Just like anyone else. Be yourself and be honest.

Give them a reason to trust and respect you right from the start.

If it wasn't meant to be, then it wasn't meant to be.
