if it's been longer than 5 years since you got out of the service just fax a copy of your dd2214 and a completed SF-180 to the VA in St. Louis. if you have any problems with this just ask me, i do this for soldiers in my battalion 5-6 times a week

ALL army medical records are kept in ST Louis if you are still active duty (or you are a spouse of an active duty soldier) requesting your records (or a copy of them since they will not give you the originals) is as simple as going to your nearest army hospital (no matter where you are now) to the in patient records office and asking them to request a copy of your medical file, they will give you a form to fill out and call you when they receive them (I have done this before, I had to get copies of my first birth because I had a c-section, for when I got pregnant a second time). If you are out of the military you can talk to your local veterans affairs office and they will help you complete and fill out the proper paperwork to get your med records (regardless of where you were stationed, or whether that base has shut down they ALL end up in St Louis). You will need your DD214 and possibly other forms of identification. Keep in mind (and if you were associated with the army this should NOT be news to you) it COULD take you an extremely LONG time to get these records (they were telling me up to 6 months, I think I got mine only after a month or so). Good luck!

wow. that may be hard to locate considering ft dix no longer does basic training, and I heard a rumor that its closing down. As well as the fact that army medical treatment is done by tri-care. You may have to work with them, they may have transfered your records over there.

medical records are protected by the privacy act, if they are not yours you will need to wait 70 years to gain access to them. If they are yours, they can be had by submitting a request to the us army department of records. You can also try to recover the records via the veterans administration

you need to write to your local va office and request the paper work to send to fort leavenworth where all the medical records are kept. hope youdon't need them anytime soon because that process took me a year.
for soldiers reading this and are currently in the military, make a copy when you out process for your records.
good luck
