The foods that are good for her, are cottage cheese and low fat yogurt. Carrots make good chew toys. Peanut butter is fine, lean meat is good (any kind) go easy on the organ meats (liver, heart, etc) No wieners or bacon for Chihuahuas, as they can't handle the nitrates of preserved meats.
Now, the important no-no foods are chocolate, grapes, raisens, many nuts, and onion.

I have a chihuahua mix I adore! I got her when she was six weeks old, too. I made sure for the first year she had nothing but puppy food... I don't think human food is good for dogs. NEVER give chicken or fish bones, of course, and chocolate is (i've been told) deadly. Just be loving and careful, and you'll have a long life together! Enjoy...

You don't want to feed your puppy human food or scraps off of a table. Go to your local drugstore or WalMart and buy puppy food for it. Ceasar Puppy and Purina Puppy are both good foods, either in a can, bag, or pouch. Harmful foods include chocolate (for some dogs, it made one of mine really sick, but didn't affect the others much), cauliflower, and peanut butter. I'm sure there are many more that are harmful, which may be one reason not to feed your dog human food, ya' think? Stick to the puppy chow.

baked chicken and plain rice are OK for any dog that has been weaned.
Everybody is right - no chocolate. none.
Raw onions can make them sick- may be deadly if they eat a lot.
My chihuahuas used to love cashew nuts and boiled shrimp. but they threw up afterward, so i don't recommend it.
Oh, they shouldn't eat turkey or chicken skin, raw or cooked.
And you should not give them a large hunk of pure fat - like from a roast beef.
My dog likes spaghetti with any tomato based sauce.
eggs prepared anyway - but not raw.
It would be better to feed the dog a proper diet for a dog. That means meat, vegetables, grain. It is a lot easier to feed them a good dog food- that way everything is balanced and you can be sure they are getting all the nutrients they need.

It's really important right now that your puppy just has puppy food (high quality) so that it gets all the nutrition it needs for proper growth and health. Many people regret later that they got their small breed dogs use to "people" food because they later have a problem with them not wanting dog food. The only thing that I gave my pups was the thick end of carrots to teethe on.
The foods that you never want to give dogs are chocolate, grapes, onion and excessive amounts of garlic. Other "people" food does cause plaque on the teeth which leads to dental decay which is costly.

I have a chihuahua and she is now 13. I would reccoment feeding your dog only dog food for his meals, but if you are looking for a treat of human food to help out, here is a small list of foods tolerated by chihuahuas. tiny slices of cheese (any kind and not frequently), carrots (the bite size ones make great training tools), popcorn (but be careful that your dog does not have diverticulitis), bits of lunch meat, and for extra special treats (pizza crust). I would be very careful for milks, or pieces of food larger than your thumb. Chihuahuas are energetic and have small throats. Doggy nature tends to tell them to hurry up and eat it all at once, and this is dangerous. Be sparing, and strict. Have fun and good luck. i know you and your chihuahua will be as happy as me and mine!

chicken is a ok thing to feed a puppie but all in all its best to stay away from most human food and stick with a high quality puppy food. Never give your puppy choc. Many plants can be fatal to a puppy cat or dog. Just stay with a vet recomended well balance food. Never give your pup raw bones or bones on any kind and if you give him or her chicken boil it first. Never fryed or baked.

You shouldn't feed them any human food unless you Vet. has instructed you to, and what food he says to give you pet. you can give them these foods if your vet says its ok.
Feed them skinless boneless chicken and rice if they are sick and want it reg. dog food. some say green beans are ok for overweight dogs as a filler. But you should never give bones of any kind. They splinter and are not completely digested and cause a blockage in the intestinal tract which will cause your dog to have surgery to remove them. No onion powder or large amounts of Garlic, grapes, raisins, chocolate of any kind, dairy. I hope this helps.

Its ok to give some cooked meat and veggies(no onions) Make sure they are small bites, and no salt. Being of the toy breed, they a prone to health problems, so be very choosy about what you give the puppy or dog. No grapes, and no chocolate. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new puppy.

If the dog gets diarrhea, you can give it mashed banana and rice. You can feed a dog scrambled egg. If you give a dog too much dairy, it will get diarrhea.
NEVER feed a dog chocolate. It is toxic to them, because their bodies can't digest it.
It is best to give a dog -dog food- that's who it is made for & it has all the nutrients in it that dogs need. Check with your vet for best brands.
