no my pets had more energy after i had them spayed/nutered they play more, get along better (2dogs one cat and my kitty couldnt even get near one of the dogs before), they got sick less, ate less, quit roaming, don't mark asmuch, and reduced their cancer risk

That is not true at all. If anything, they will concentrate on you and what they are being taught more than before. I have a 11 year old spayed lab that is almost as playful as when she was 2. She didn't change at all after spaying.

No. Dogs get lazy when they are over weight, make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise and eats a good healthy diet.My miniature schnauzer was spayed when she was a year old and she played hard until 3 weeks before she died at age 14.

That does happen, but less than 20% of the time. If you make sure she gets plenty of excercise, and give her a nutritious diet, she will most likley stay the same.

Soy in the diet seems to mess up spayed females. I'm not sure how if affects the hormones, but it does

I'm thinking that the 'lazy'spayed females are fed a soy based diet.
I would like to hear from anyone concering that if I'm wrong. Its just my theory

I have a spayed Golden(had it done when she was still a puppy )she is now 7 years old, and is waiting with her ball in her mouth when I get home from work. I think a lot of that depends on the owner, and possibly the breed your vet should know.

We just recently had our puppy neutered and haven't noticed any loss of playfullness at all. Many breeders will recommend getting your dog fixed for a variety of reasons including health and removing the risk of unwanted puppies. Each breeder and vet I have talked to said that getting your dog fixed will not change their personality at all.

Good luck!

p.s.- spaying is for females and neutering is for males. Both sterilize the animals.

NO. All the dogs we have had over the years never got lazy or lost being playful. That goes for both males and females.

Nope. But if you don't get your dog spayed, you risk the chance of mammary tumors and infection and or cancer of the uterus. Males face a similar risk.
