It is true that smells, colours, and touch can evoke feelings or memories. Pink evokes peacefulness, lemon evokes feelings of freshness and cleanliness, this is years and years of chemistry and study. It's not false.
People will respond stronger or weaker than others to the smell.
Smell after a rain.
Smell the freshness in the mountains.
Smell oven baked bread.
Walk into a room and have a sense of peace or anger come over you because of the colour.
Let beads run through your fingers.
Hear the ching, ching sound of a thousand dimes running into a bowl.
These things do cause you to think and feel differently - why not?

Absolutely not true, unless the smell makes you so nauseous that you can't eat. Losing weight is a matter of simple math: Eat less calories than you use up in a day.

There is some truth in this. Some people are fat because simply they like the taste of food. The nose, ears and mouth are all connected. Smell is very important in saying what something tastes like. therefore you can taste food just by smelling it

...I don't see how smelling a fruit helps any more than smelling paper. Instead of using the nose, I'd rather use my mouth.
