Anti-depressants wouldn't hurt. I heard of premenstrual syndrome being so bad for some women that they did require medical assistance for some of the mental distress. Hormones do crazy stuff to some of us.

Not yet. You're on the hormone roller-coaster, one of the perks of being female. Sometimes things eventually level out over time; if not, talk with your OB/GYN. Hormones in whatever for they'd prescribe can control some of that but they aren't for everyone. Try limiting the sugars, caffeine, and junk; eat healthier and get exercise and rest. Being fatigued can make you easier to be upset and bummed. Try to keep a positive attitude. If depression is an issue, again your OB/GYN should help you. Good luck.

PMS is caused by a hormonal imbalance not an antidepressant deficiency. Although antidepressants are used to treat the symptoms they do not cure the problem. If you do not want to take antidepressants, you might want to check out natural methods for dealing with PMS. Here is a web site that may help. www.pms-relief.org
Also I suggest you research the side effects of antidepressants first.

There is a condition called premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD that is similar to what you describe. A common treatment for it is to take particular antidepressant meds, such as lexapro another person mentioned, for a short while before and during your period to offset the symptoms.

Try taking an iron supplement. You may just need to build up more red blood cells - it can really improve your mood!
