Cuba Libre translated Free Cuba, was originated after the Spanish-American War when American group of soldiers fist mixed Coca-Cola, rum and a wedge of lime to toast the freedom of Cuba. Legend has it that American soldiers stationed in Cuba during the Spanish-American War of the late 1800's were not allowed to have alcoholic beverages while in uniform, and that is how the Cuba Libre was originated. The bartender would pour out some Coca-Cola from the bottle, pour some rum in, and use the lime to disguise the alcohol smell.

Cuba Libra- It means "Liberating Cuba"- as a result of "American Coke" mixed with Cuban (or in most cases Carribean) rum. A true Cuba Libra would be made with Havana Club cuban rum...

Cuba Libre (Free Cuba). It's just the name of a cocktail, just like a "screwdriver." This drink is made with rum, which is product of Cuba, that's why it's called that.

Cuban Libra

HaHa

Cuba Libre, or Free Cuba, was the drink of the revolutionaries.

Btw, though i am a Coca-Cola fan, the drink is actually better when mixed with Pepsi.

If you already know what rum tastes like, yes you can. (Well, *I* can. It tastes horrible!) It's very likely that he could get drunk off of that little bit because he's young and he's never been drunk before.
