It's a great thing to do if you have a treadmill, elliptical, or a stationary bike but I don't know if you have these things. I think a good investment would be to get a set of weights. Nothing too heave maybe 5 lbs. Work your arms while you sit on the edge of your chair. Then you can work your way to the floor to work your abs. When you are through with that you could do some different variations on leg lifts. Squats are a great thing to do also.

I think you should visit this site and get some great exercise tips.

If you want to burn calories try jogging in place. Just keep moving is the best thing to do.

Good luck to you. I hope you get your results!

I bought a set of pedals with adjustable tension. You can sit in a chair and pedal continuously without strain, at your own pace. You may need to brace one side of the pedals against a heavy box or piece of furniture so it is immoble. Just look at the product you buy first. Some are junk and break easily. Also I like the body bow for light resistance training. It is very versatile.

Hula Hooping is a great excercise, and you can easily do it for an hour without much effort. However, you should use a heavy hoop that weighs at least 2-3 pounds instead of the ones that kids use.

If you're serious about this, first step is to get off the couch or easy chair. Lay out a mat on the floor and do scissor kicks, hello-dollys, toe lifts (standing with legs/ankles together and just tipiing up over and over to tighten those calves. Jumping jacks, windmills, 8 count body builders...the list goes on. All of them are stationary.
