lazana...who are you...and fettucine is for just that, for alfredo which isa white. Penne is the right one...girlfriend almost got it with ziti so hats off to her. Penne runs about an inch+ long cut diagonal on the ends with a cm. hole. Great for any tomato sauces and yes captures the sauce and bits of herb, cheese(use romano or pecorino if you can get it), ground black pepper....mmmm. Suprised someone did'nt say flat egg just to say a different noodle. If your using a crushed tomato, basil and olive oil sauce try Farfale (bowtie). It makes for an awesome plate and it's different...manga

saute a pound of mushrooms, with garlic and olive oil. add other vegies as wanted. when cooked to desire tenderness. add about a half a pound of angel hair pasta and toss. sprinkle with some fresh shredded parmasan or romano cheese, serve hot. with a little red pepper diced really small as a garnish.

or some spinach stuffed riggatoni, is yummy too. tossed with some fresh herbs and olive oil, touch of romano

Fettucinni. It is good for creamy sauces, like Fettucinni Alfredo and the like, because it is way wider than, say, spaghetti or even linguine.

aarg, i think its called ziti? whatever. its the long one with the hole in the middle and its really good because the sauce gets stuck in the hole and you get more flavor in each bite.
