Don't be alarmed. There is always a surplus this time of year due to mating seaon in Alaska. It is incredibly easy to get salmon right now. Canned salmon is just the extra from fresh fish unsold.

The tinned stuff is fished a few months before it really sells, so it is hard to determine the demand until they have over fished as they did last season.
